so finally took my eldest down the range with me, put my spare irons, a 4 hybrid, 5 wood and a driver in my carry bag for him to use

the git smashed em, 200+ with the hybrid, has a natural draw which he got the hang of fairly quickly

only good thing was my driver behaved and he can't hit one properly..... YET :)

going to ask about junior membership at Sundays medal

you just know within a few weeks he will be kicking my arse round the course :(

he is 16, 6ft 1 so not a little un. tbh he is a natural sporty type anyway, plays footy to a decent level aswell.

he has been using my MD irons over the field for months now so knows how to swing a club a bit.

he was even starting to aim at a target for win a prize thing hence learning to adjust for the natural draw. Would be great getting him a h/c and partnering in pairs comps :)

You have to accept the inevitable. I realised very early on when my kids played cricket that both were better batsmen.

With my oldest - he went in at 4 me at 5. there was an extremely quick bowler on a quick pitch bowling when I went in to join him. I asked him if he wanted me to take the quickie but he said 'No, he's nothing' and proceeded to hit him all round the park. I knew I could not have done that at all.

The younger one just bowled quicker than I ever did and batted better.

It does make you proud eventually when you get over the initial disappointment

Will he keep his cool when it goes a bit wrong?

the young chaps have a lot of high expectations and have trouble coping when it goes a bit wrong.

Nice one :)

I took my youngest (6) out on the course this evening for the first time.

He was well chuffed, having only been on the practise grounds before.

We only did the six holes nearest the clubhouse and he had to have a ride on the trolley for the last hole but he thoroughly enjoyed himself.

Cheers

Steve...

I cant wait to take my boy on the course!
He's only two and half but allready hitting plastic balls over a 6ft fence with his plastic clubs whilst slowly swinging saying "backwards and forwards"!
He has a proper putter which has a full weighted head and a shaft about a 18inches long which he putts real balls with and has no problem puuting them into a cup from 3feet!
Better than me already! :D

Actually had to stop him hitting real balls with his plastic iron as he creamed one into his 4year old cousins forehead!!! :D

Its bigger than his!!! :p
US kids golf is the make, great little putter for 15quid, I have seriously thought about taking it on the course with me as I cant miss with it!
Garrigus has got it spot on I recon! :)
