My first ever trip to the cinema, I'd be 8 and my brother was 7, an old spinster aunt took us to see Carry on Camping. She was mortified when Barbara's bikini top flew off during an exercise class
A life well lived. Would love to have heard stories about her time with both Krays and Sid James. Bet she had some tales. Shame illness got her to a degree where she felt unable to carry on at Eastenders and had to beg the producers to write her out. Only have to read the tributes from her peers to see how much fondness and what esteem she was held in
I had the pleasure of meeting Barbara a few years ago when she came into our office on the way to a personal appearance. Her first words to me when I opened the door were 'allo darlin, where's the loo?' - a lovely lady. RIP.
She used to own a pub in Winchmore Hill near Amersham, went there for dinner quite a few times in the early 90’s , around 8 pm she would make a grand entrance, and would spend most of the evening going round each table making sure that everyone was happy.
Proper character, met her several times, always had time for everyone, just a nice person
Sleep well ?
