Please advise as I seemingly cannot make a decision here.

I am looking at a new set of irons next month and I am not sure what to do.

I have booked in for a custom fit at a local store where I know financially I am going to get a very good deal, this has an indoor facility which is very impressive. Altenativly I am looking at the Belfry as there is an outdoor facility, but I know I am going to pay more.

Question is, does it make that much of a difference having your fitting indoor or outdoor?

I think you get what you pay for. I was fitted indoors and got what I wanted but looking back on it I may have picked different shafts if I could have seen the ball flight. There are the numbers and looks and feel, all this can be done indoors but ball flight is a factor and maybe the one thing you can not really do inside.

That said, I was fitted for a club yesterday and there was so much room from tee to wall that I could see the ball flight.

Thanks, they use one of the new GC2 flight monitor systems which means you view you ball flight on the big screen in front of you, I know its not the same as seeing it outside for real but it does seem quite impressive to me.

Make sure you take one of your current irons so that even if the data is not real world you can have a reference point to work from.

Just signed up here to write a review about my custom fitting experience at Ping in Gainsborough, will post in the Review forum but in short my answer would be pay the money and get it done right! Particularly if you are 6 foot 5.
