Custom Fitting - Interesting

Didn't you know, all Scottish wummin play off single figures? ;)

FD, just get a felt pen and write 5 on the 7 iron , 6 on the 8 etc and you'll be fine

It's something in the water!

Bob - don't say that - these clubs are going to help me to cat 1!!

(Might need a few more lessons too!)

Got custom fitted for new irons yesterday.

Interesting stat:

Longest carry with my current 6 iron: 124 yards

Longest carry with "fitted" 6 iron: 142 yards

Looking forward to getting my hands on the new clubs and relearning my yardages!

You play off 7.1 and hit a 6 iron 124yds carry, just shows folks out there that distance is not everything, brilliant.

Yeah, as I said though, it is a bit misleading - my iron yardages are out of proportion with how far I hit driver/fairways. Believe it or not, I have the reputation as a big hitter at my club. I just don't think the girls realise that after the drive I'll maybe hit the same iron as them despite being closer to the green.

a big increase in yardage there, another thumbs up for custom fit and new technology,
only question would be are lofts stronger on r11? a lot of the modern clubs are, and in effect you maybe comparing you old 6 iron with a modern 6 iron but with an old 5 iron loft?

Big thumbs up to John Letters - I emailed them to ask the lofts on my old irons and they got back to me within minutes!

Yes, it's true! The R11 6 iron has the same loft as the 5 iron in my old set!

But did you hit the R11's a lot more consistently than your old irons.

Yeah, I don't hit my old 5 iron very consistently at all but was smacking that R11 6 quite nicely. As I said, I didn't perceive any great difference in feel between that and my own 6.

Annoying the way the manufacturers have been delofting over time though!

Just business FD, they want to sell more and longer clubs sell more. Delofting irons and increasing shaft lenght are 2 of the 'sneaky' tricks they use to lure us in

Karen what other clubs did you hit, and what made you go with the R11's.

KZG, Orka, Vega, Miura

I tend to have quite a high ball flight, which was costing distance. Scott was happier with the stats using the R11 - gave the most penetrating flight.

And, from my more simplistic viewpoint, highest ball speed and carry yardage!

Possibly! My irons are costing about £150 more than RRP for an off the shelf set. Hard to compare though - with the different shafts and grips that I went for.

Actually, I'd based that on the steel shafts version. It's actually about £30 more than for off the shelf graphite shafts. Then I've paid a bit more again to get Iomic grips.

Iomic are terrible in the rain, Scott put that grip on my driver and I thought it went like slime in the rain. Not a fan.

Glad you got sorted for the bats though, great set up and decent fun. I'm going back soon for a 3 wood and hybrid shaft with Golf Pride Whiteout grips.

Ouch, that's not what I want to hear. They felt brilliant when I tried them. Scott said in the wet they just need a wipe with a towel to get their tackiness back....
