Got custom fitted for new irons yesterday.

Interesting stat:

Longest carry with my current 6 iron: 124 yards

Longest carry with "fitted" 6 iron: 142 yards

Looking forward to getting my hands on the new clubs and relearning my yardages!

That is some increase in yardage there.

What irons were you fitted for? Whats your current set?

Congrats on the new irons, that is a huge increase in yardage that should change your game.

I have to say it and I really do not mean to be rude, in fact the opposite, for a short hitter you have a really low handicap, you must be very accurate and have a mustard shot game!

a big increase in yardage there, another thumbs up for custom fit and new technology,
only question would be are lofts stronger on r11? a lot of the modern clubs are, and in effect you maybe comparing you old 6 iron with a modern 6 iron but with an old 5 iron loft?

enjoy the new shinies and handicap cut to follow! :)

I'm a girl!

Hit driver and fairways relatively far but have been amazed that girls I out drive massively hit their irons similar distances (or further) to me. Those irons have just been totally wrong for me, hence the fitting.

LPGA tour average carry with a 6 iron is 152 yards so 140ish isn't bad for me. And I've got plenty of scope to improve my ball striking.....

Must say the trackman stats with the current irons really shocked me. I reckoned I carried the 6 iron 130 yards but couldn't get anywhere near that on the trackman.

Ahh I did not know, but to be clear I would happily swap my game for yours!!!

Hmmm... possibly although there didn't seem to be much perceptible difference.

How did your back stand up to hitting lots of balls in the one spot. Glad you got sorted out, did you go to Scott's for the fitting. Cant wait to hear about the, on the course improvements.

Alex1975: Liberton Golf Club is not a long track, so i don't think it would affect Karen's score to much. I think its the longer tracks that Karen will struggle with.

Well, I did yelp for the first few but things improved as I warmed up.

Yes, went to Scott's.

True enough - I hits lots of short irons into greens at Liberton. But, as you know, I'm not the shortest off the tee. Have had cuts at Dalmahoy and Duddingston this year. I don't struggle to reach the greens anywhere TBH but if I could be hitting my approach with a club or two less that'd be useful.

What happened for you to go .1 up

Rather windy at the Murrayfield open on Sunday and had a mini disaster on the front nine....

par, par, double bogey, double bogey, triple bogey!! No way back from that.

Sloppy around the greens at 3 and 4 and sliced my approach at the fifth, and with a strong left to right wind.... I think it ended up in Fife, never to be seen again anyway!

Played decent after that - even won a prize in the end - but after using all my strokes before the 6th I was always giving 0.1 back.

Its a lovely track to play when its not to windy, being on the side of Corstorphine Hill, i think the noise of the lions etc is so funny. The back nine is a little bit more sheltered. I was thinking of joining there before i joined Craigmillar Park. The joining fee was a little to high, and the club house is a little formal.

Yes, I quite enjoyed it. Back nine was much more playable out of the wind. Course very wet (like everywhere) so playing quite long. Tricky for a short hitter like me! :ears:
