if you have custom irons can you please state

1) have they been extended / shortened and by how much
2) has the lie been changed.
3) what height you are.

just to see if there are any patterns to it. :p

6'2.5"

Specs 1/2in longer +2 degrees upright.

Fitter tried me with 1in longer and could barely make contact with the ball.

Play with a guy whose about 5'4" and he plays 2degrees flat and std length.

Have noticed if you have a decent set up then you tend to fit into general areas such as those that Ping use with their coloured dot system.
But if you tend to crouch over you can get away with less upright or shorter. Or if you stand more upright you require more upright longer clubs.

A mate who is same height as me was playing clubs 3degrees upright and 1inch longer.
He got a great deal on a set of Ping i20's that the pro got as a staff deal.
The spec was the same as my own and he has had his best year yet getting a cut to 7 and would have done better if his driving hadn't gone off the boil. Now his setup looks much more correct and not as straight as before.

I'm 5'9" and was fit for black spot G20s, standard loft and lie. If anything the pro said we could go 1^ upright but improved technique would be more beneficial.

I'm 6'1" and play with standard length clubs 2.75* upright...but I having a nagging thought I need longer and stiffer irons. This thread will not help this thought go away.

I'm 6 ft.
When I was fitted for Mizunos some time back the spec came out at + 1/2 inch and 1 degree flat.

It has more to do with you arm length in relation to your height rather than height itself.

im 6ft. i bought clubs standard lenght and 2 upright. i wasnt sure if i was going to be able to hit them but they have turned out fine.

i tried hitting a TM 6iron 2 degrees flat at the range one day and couldnt hit it for toffee. upright seems to be right for me!

6.0ft
Clubs- 1/2" longer, 1deg' upright, Lofts 1deg strong.

I was fitted at Mizuno.Whilst talking to the fitter and hitting shots he could see that my weak shot was out of the toe of the club.
He said this was due to me having short arms:confused:

Since going to 1/2 longer the problem has gone and I've never hit the ball sweeter:thup:

Just got Mizuno JPX 825 Pro irons last week. I'm 6' 1" and they are half an inch longer than standard and 1 degree upright. My previous MX200's were again half an inch longer, but 2 degrees upright, oddly.

Ditto on the spec, I'm 6' 2" tall.

That was the Ping fitting. When I had a Cobra fitting 6 years ago, they fit me standard loft/ lie. I hit the Ping's ever so much better.....but that could just be due to me striking better these days - this from regularly practising on a range in Japan last year with two regular clubs I purchased from a local shop second hand bin.... loved the Yonex and hit it as well as anything I normally hit....
