joined the custom cameron club and wanted to order the weight removel tool that they have on there its $48 dollars to buy and when i went through all the details to pay and when it come to choose the price for delivery they wanted to charge me $86 dollars for something that can be posted in a bubble wrapped envelope no chance of them getting a penny off me

That's pretty steep, especially considering Ethan got a set of irons shipped from Callaway for $55!
Although, I've always found Callaway pre-owned to have really good service, and Scotty Cameron stuff to be expensive, so perhaps not surprising.

If you want the tool, the best thing is to wait until you or someone else you know will be in the US and bring it back personally.

I'm not entirely sure on this, but might they have included the overseas goods tax onto their shipping price?

Is that after you had paid 100 dollars to join club cameron as well??!! No wonder everything related to cameron is so stupidly expensive!

Actually, it has nothing to do with Cameron.

In fact, the shipping issues for retail outlets such as the Cameron Studio Store (and likewise for other Titleist brands such as Titleist Performance Institute and Vokey) are handled and priced by the parent company, Acushnet. Cameron has no influence on this, although I know they have made comments to Acushnet on the matter. Acushnet charges full retail price for shipping, same as you would pay if you walked into a UPS shipping office in the US. Obviously Acushnet does not pay those rates for shipping. Don't forget you also have to pay customs charges and VAT too.

Stuff that is dealt with by Cameron directly, such as club authentication and refurbishment, fall outside this corporate shipping policy and are shipped directly from the Cameron Custom Shop in California. Shipping is much more reasonably priced for these ($70 or so for a putter well packed in a decent size box, 2 day shipping from CA). It is also free of customs charges and VAT as it is considered a repair and return.

The reason for the difference is that Acushnet does not appear to pass on some of the huge volume discount they get from UPS but Cameron does pass on discount from FedEx (who handle European shipping from the Custom Shop).

Ethan - thanks.
Doesn't stop people passing on that overblown price though does it. To get a headcover is expensive as folk in this country have paid that charge. They then expect to get at least some of it back when selling, coupled to the fact that anyone getting it new direct from scotty will see any reduction as a saving, will result in the prices remaining artificially high? Eg item direct from scotty 50 dollars plus 80 postage is 130 so 'only' paying 100 second hand on ebay is a bargain.
One day i may even understand the circle t business - so expensive and yet not a pro's old putter just built for them to test them....

I agree. I used to collect Cameron stuff and gave up buying from the Studio Store for exactly that reason. But I do know that the Studio Store is not happy with the shipping situation, but have little option unless and until Cameron comes out of Acushnet.

Small items are always poor value with courier shipping because there is a minimum price UPS/FedEx etc will charge even to ship fresh air, so if you pile in a load of stuff, rather than just a headcover, the shipping value gets proportionately better.
