Creaking shaft

I need some help/advice

I brought a new shaft for my cobra amp cell driver off ebay and all went lovely for a couple weeks, then a faint creaking/cracking sound started coming from the ferule and adapter which has got worse and worse. I Have spoken to ESCgolf who I brought it off and they have pretty much shrugged there shoulders and fobbed my off.

can any body suggest anything that will fix the problem?

if the people you got it from won't help, maybes give them another call, email, & just mention you're going to flag it up on twitter to see if anyone can help (whether you on twitter or not right now doesn't matter they won't know either way).... but doubt they'd like the sound of some bad press that a lot of folks could see, that might jog them into doing something about it. don't use ebay but guessing like amazon they must have some sort of complaints procedure.

otherwise, don't use it sounds like the head could easy come off, until you take it to a club fitter or Pro to get it checked out.

ESCGolf has a pretty poor reputation (for clubs/shafts) anyway - and they don't, apparently, particularly care!

During the 'long/belly putter' boom, they were the source of a huge number of such kit with heads that were manufactured long before the craze started!

No idea what the creak is about, but getting it checked out would be worthwhile as it will erode your confidence until you know!

I may be way off the mark and if so I apologise, but why not take it into a local pro shop and get them to look at it. It'll give you piece of mind and obviously you like the shaft and so if there's a way it can be fixed then happy days surely

Creaking usually means a weakness in the epoxy - it happens. It is unclear whether or not the shaft and adapter are a factory install from Cobra - if they are, then you may get a warranty repair. If they're not, then you don't have much of a leg to stand on unless ESC have some form of guarantee - on used clubs and parts, then the chances are less likely and it sounds like you're outside their 14 day return/refund terms and distance selling rules.
On the plus side, a shaft and adapter repair is pretty straightforward and won't cost the earth either - from around £10 unless you need a replacement adapter, in which case genuine parts are more expensive.
Going back to the first paragraph - this is why OEM's like Titleist and Cobra insist on installing adapters and shafts themselves to qualify for any warranty claims - if it's a shaft that has not been verified or a non-standard aftermarket adapter, then any warranty is void. I've certainly seen quite a few bodged installs and ill-fitting adapters to know why some OEM's make this proviso for their equipment - it makes them look bad. Buying shafts with adapters from anyone other than the OEM or authorised dealers can lead to this sort of frustration if this part failure occurs - as mentioned it is fairly common flaw on some fittings.
Your best bet is to see a decent clubmaker as mentioned to get it sorted and call it lesson learned.

From experience, my shaft was creaking and sounded really odd, on checking it I found the screw holding the shaft in the head was slightly loose. Worth a look, but I expect you have already checked this.

On my club it sounded like it was going to snap, I only noticed the losse head after a couple of weeks. Just tweak it with the wrench to check.

Hope you sort it, but I would see local pro if that doesnt work.

took it to my club pro and its definately something in the adapter. Emailed ESC golf a couple of days ago asking for an exchange and no reply!
