Craighead Links?

It depends - how far do you want to travel and at what time of year?

It's quite exposed to the elements. It must be one of the coldest golf courses in Scotland if there's any sort of northerly or easterly wind in the winter. Played it on a frosty day in November a few years ago and I thought I was going to die. :D

Good, not great, course on a nice day though. It's got two or three silly holes in my opinion and I think it's a course that better suits longer hitters. Better players seem to rate it higher than a lowly hacker like myself.

wonder why that is Jim, its not a long course by any means. We ended up there on our jolly last year as there was a mix up and only one of our group enjoyed it and that was out of a group who were all cat 1.

one of my mates rates it even lower than me and he has played everywhere, he's off 1

The world ends south of Aberdeen according to you Patrick 😉😂

Colder than our 3 hole warm up at Murcar!!?? 😖

Aberdeen is East of me dear boy;)

Its a long way for you that's for sure, even further than me which is saying something:)
There are a few ok holes but i found it very disappointing. If you were in the area, playing but not worth a very long trip IMO

You're right I don't know why that is either. The elite lads I've spoken to that play for the Battle Trophy do rate it and they generally don't beat par by very much. I'm told they make the course much longer for them. I don't see the attraction myself but they play a different game. :)

Was it your good self who had an expunged birdie on the first?

Sounds like the dead parrot sketch.;)

Not sure I had a birdie all weekend mate!!!

We were just privileged to see LQ keeping the ball down into the wind......

And downwind
And in left to right wind
And right to left wind

😉

Robobum, I should have said if you're making the effort of the journey give me a nudge. Can try for a game on the St Andrews New or Jubilee too.

That'd be great Jim. Thanks mate 👍

Flat time in the office so planning my playing schedule with my team (of 1) 😂

It is weird the way his ball always does that.

I think he plays with an olly and paints it white.:)

That was me. I don't like to talk about it. ;)

Murcar was positively toasty compared to the day I had on Craighead.

Well claimed - do you have an app set on your phone for in case someone mentions the 1st hole on Murcar....or the course...or the county. :D

My, must have been bad.

Not sure why they says its a links course, old farmers field with couple of good holes on it but wouldn't go out my way to play it give the choice of courses you have in the area.
