I completely agree and I'm certainly not trying to stop people from enjoying what they want on the golf course (providing they don't drop litter from the wrappings). I just don't find it useful myself. Each to their own![]()

Far too civilised for this forum.I completely agree and I'm certainly not trying to stop people from enjoying what they want on the golf course (providing they don't drop litter from the wrappings). I just don't find it useful myself.
Is that just on the border? I grew up in Cheshire, went into Lancashire frequently, never seen it called that there. Fascinating differences in language in small areas.A teacake is also a teacake in the part of Lancashire that I come from, what you call a teacake is a currant teacake.
You should give it a try, it may help with your backacheI'm certainly not aware that I get low sugar spikes during a round of golf and am highly sceptical that I do.
And don't get me started on the complete nonsense that is 'electrolytes'.
Pretty sure that adding calories to my input will not be good for Backache or any other ache. You should give it a try, it may help with your backache
Proper nutrition whilst exercising can help to reduce inflammation so it could actually help with backache in the long runPretty sure that adding calories to my input will not be good for Backache or any other ache.
Most exercise of the nature of golf I have seen precisely zero evidence of any requirement for shoving food in your face during the exerciseProper nutrition whilst exercising can help to reduce inflammation so it could actually help with backache in the long run![]()
I’d have to dig out the specific links but Harvard and Cambridge universities medical departments both published research on anti inflammatory diets helping to reduce lower back pain in 2023/2024, National institute for health(US) did a similar study in 2022 which showed those eating anti inflammatory diets had significantly reduced lower back pain than they had before they started it. MEHTA Spine institute (UK)also published benefits of how certain diets affect lower back pain as have the British college of Osteopathic medicine. Not to mention British heart foundation have done the same on the benefits for heart health and arthritis prevention. Most exercise of the nature of golf I have seen precisely zero evidence of any requirement for shoving food in your face during the exercise
I have never seen any suggestion anywhere of food during exercise facilitating Backache.
If you can put forward any genuine peer reviewed evidence I will happily read it.
I will happily concur with that. I don't doubt that a well structured overall diet can be beneficial to health and well being including things like Backache.I’d have to dig out the specific links but Harvard and Cambridge universities medical departments both published research on anti inflammatory diets helping to reduce lower back pain in 2023/2024, National institute for health(US) did a similar study in 2022 which showed those eating anti inflammatory diets had significantly reduced lower back pain than they had before they started it. Only reason I know is because side in my line of work Low back pain is hugely common and something we’ve had several lectures on the benefits of eating right as well as training right.
As for eating during golf, honestly nobody needs to convince you to do anything,
It’s personal preference. You know your body better than anyone as I do mine. I know mine needs fuelling every 2-3hrs due to the amount of physical activity I do at work and in the gym etc. we’re all different.
Not convinced that cereal bars, chocolate bars, sausage rolls and the rest represent "proper nutrition".Proper nutrition whilst exercising can help to reduce inflammation so it could actually help with backache in the long run![]()
That’s why I don’t eat cereal bars or sausage rolls! The occasional choccy bar though doesn’t hurt. Not convinced that cereal bars, chocolate bars, sausage rolls and the rest represent "proper nutrition".
They can prevent death from lack of nutrition. Better than nothing, maybe. Not convinced that cereal bars, chocolate bars, sausage rolls and the rest represent "proper nutrition".
Straight old racer bar (aldi's snickers) nothing fancy. What’s everyone’s go to snack on the golf course?
