Located near Biggin Hill in Kent, this is a parkland course that is a par 72 that plays 6,380 yards off the white tees.

This is a pretty course.

In that the tees are pretty crap, the fairways are pretty crap and the overall condition is pretty crap.

But the greens are not pretty crap. They are the worst I have ever played on in over 20 years of playing golf.

The overall layout from the late 1960s is a fairly good one and there are some good holes in terms of design. Except that the greens are way too small for the yardage of the course and even the largest is around half the size of a modern PGA-specification putting surface.

The club tries hard and even has the white-yellow-red flag system to indicate where the hole is on the green. But when your average green depth is 19 yards, then it makes it a complete farce.

The actual greens have more than your average disease on them. They are pock-marked more than an adolescent's face with acne, have holes and scarring everywhere, and it is more luck than judgement if anything actually goes in.

Memorable holes? The 19th knowing that when you've downed your pint, you are driving off and never coming back.

Smiffy, this place really could take Lydd on for the Worst Course in the country.

I hate when people sit on the fence. Just come out and tell us what you really think about the course.

Paul, I think it's something common in that beck of the woods. We played high elms today (which is a couple of mile from there),and their greens were the same, virus riddled and covered in patches of baldspots. i have never seen greens so bad, best bit was the assistant pro reckons their the best they have been since last summer. If your in the area skip high elms!

What's wrong with small greens??? Doesn't that add to the test of golf???

Do you like to aim at football pitch sized greens???

I suppose it helps your GIR stats.

Never liked Cherry Lodge.

High Elms is a great course given that it's completely public (owned by the council). Best one I've ever played.

Haven't played it for a couple of years, but I never expect great greens or tees. What I expect is a great layout and a real test of placement.

Plus their twilight rate is great!
