Course recommendation please, Glasgow area

My course is looking in nice condition at the moment, and great views across the city. Kirkhill GC and we take Green Fee Saver tickets. Check out our website Click Here it will give you the information you want.

It's our Centenary year as well. I suppose it depends on how good your playing partners are, as it can be tight at some parts. I can also thoroughly recommend the food and a new clubhouse with views across the course.

Good shout Craw, Cathkin Braes is a great course to play. Our next door neighbours.

A little farther out but Strathaven GC is a great track.

Recently played Cardross GC on the road to Helensburgh and was very impressed by the course, layout, views and greens. All in with lunch of bacon rolls and coffee and 2 course evening meal for £44...bargin

Just my opinion however East Renfrewshire is very over rated. Good golf course, but not in the Pollok or Cathkin Braes league.

I'm sure lots with disagree, some may even agree, the beauty of opinions.

Cawder is nice but always busy. Cardross is nice but a bit out of your way, although its not too far from Glasgow Airport. Another couple in the Glasgow Airport catchment area worth considering are Renfrew and Erskine.

I woulp plump for Erskine ahead of Renfrew, but again thats just my preference and the fact that I never ever play well round Renfrew!!!

I'm taking some Glasgow based customers golfing next month, any recommendations for a nice course ? Probably up tp £50 a head max

England's got some nice courses :D

No, I must resist and be nice to TheCraw ;)

That's probably because Cochrane Castle is an abomination of a golf course. Its probably the worst private golf course in Renfrewshire.

Elderslie is great if you want to be jumped or shot at by an air gun while playing the holes running along the top end of Foxbar!

Ralston is mediocre at best, all the courses listed already in this thread are better than Ralston.

our club played at Paisley Golf Club. brilliant day, nice course, nice people. roll and bacon and coffee on arrival, played 18 holes, soup and salad bap, played another 18 holes, 3 course dinner. all for a very reasonable 50 quid. the course was in very good condition, greens very fast (well compared to what im used to. the first 3 holes are uphill but once up there you work your way down and along the hill. they do have two buggys(if you dont have a sherpa). we all enjoyed it and i would recommend it

Paisley is not hilly!!!!!

You sure you played the right course? Paisley starts with a dogleg right par 4, ever so slightly uphill, the second is a fairly flat par four and the 3rd is a par 5, again only a slight rise, rises up towards the green granted but certainly nothing major. The 4th goes up hill but its hardly sherpa or buggy country.

You sure you didn't play Fereneze in Barrhead, the first three holes there go uphill

thecraw i really enjoyed the course, the first 3 holes do rise upwards. but from then on downhill and across slope. im not in the best of condition (forgot to take my inhaler). one of our group for the second 18 hired a buggy. (not me) Sherpa joke was for one of our group
i was simply saying that they have two buggys for hire. i havent played many courses, but i would definetly play there again in the future. even consider it for membership in the future!
