Course closures

Course not closed but 18 temp greens due to deep rooted frost. No golf for me as I just do not see the point of playing in those conditions.

Course isn’t shut due to frost, though we’re on temp greens, but is closed if there is fog until it lifts. So over last week or so it’s been closed a couple of mornings until late morning. Though very cold and frosty, there is no fog this morning so expect open, but we haven’t yet had our daily course status email to confirm one way or the other as the course often gets morning fog when we don’t at home.

Was closed a couple of times in previous weeks due to the persistent heavy rain just not being able to drain away, even though the course is an ‘excellent drainer’.

Email yesterday stating that we were planning to stay open as much as possible but would be moving to temp tees and greens. Snow forcing a closure today, guess I'll give it a miss (don't play Monday's anyway :D )

I’m (supposed to be) going out tomorrow with a group of 3 or 4 Academy (Beginners) Ladies in the Ladies Christmas Frolic. I am the mentor/chaperone ? for the group and won’t be scoring, but if it goes ahead it’ll be fun advising them what to do. Think that’ll be limited to ‘point yourself towards the green; hit it, and see what happens’ ?. Actually not bad advice for us all ?

We've been open everyday, but I haven't played for 9 days. Zero degrees and frozen greens is just plain silly. Six days time it gets less chilly, but the rain will probably put me off. Four days of rain and course might close for being too soggy.
After Christmas maybe...

Went out yesterday on our little par 3 course, didn't even think about the course being white over as it was OK at home, but the course is a little higher up so the overnight snow had left the greens covered. Had to pop in the pro's shop to get some coloured balls - 8 chuffin quid for a sleeve of Srixon divides

Wasn't expecting much, but had an absolute blast - went round twice and got 18 in, it was pretty much dark by the time I was coming down the last hole here for the 2nd time. Couldn't get a tee in the ground, and the greens were a bit bobbly, but apart from that, it was fine.

Been closed a few days now. I'm not sure what this post is about? Are you bemoaning your course closing when conditions are terrible? Why would you even want to be out there?

Ours is still open and plenty are still playing. When it is like this, bell iron, freezing cold, the golf is a lottery, but we know that next week when the conditions change to warmer and wetter the course will close and stay closed until the conditions change again.

Famine or feast, or hang the clubs up for the winter and nobody wants to do that, right?

The ground around here isn't going to thaw anytime soon with temperatures below or at freezing until the weekend...and then it starts raining.
Add in the snow, which isn't going to melt either and Sunday will be waterlogged as the water will have nowhere to go....
By Monday or Tuesday it may be playable but we're due almost continuous rain until Xmas......
So that could be it until the last couple of days of the year.....
Boo hiss........

Closed today since there's about 2 inches of snow. Once that melts I do fear for the course condition a little bit. It's been great up until now.
