Cost of today's bounce game £1052!

Yup, my round today cost £1052 as I paid my annual sub ( albeit a month early)

I always view the first round of a new season as the full cost and thereafter it's all free. Daft I know but how do those of you who pay annually in one hit think of it?

I played pretty crap too, so got a better rate per shot !!

I've just taken advantage of a special offer at my club and paid 3 years of subs up front for a discount, so I now don't have any subs to pay until the start of the 2017 season.

Is it a financially sound club? I worry that the sort of offer they've given is a money grab, are they struggling to pay bills, and what if they spend the income raised in year one, they will run short of income in year 3? Are you subs fully protected?

No, there are no money issues at all, everything is good on the money front.

This discount isn't that large but much like the theme of your original post, the idea of not having to pay for Golf again for 3 years really appealed to me so I took up the offer.

I paid my last part of my joining fee on Monday , £850 , ouch , worth every penny mind if this weather stops , been good this week , that's on top of subs of 1500 , pay that monthly , again ouch

If I was paying what you guys pay then I would expect the course in pristine condition no matter the weather.

1500 a year to play golf.......... and they wonder why courses are closing and new people arent taking the game up.

My golf and that of the missus is in the household budget - cash gets put away every month so don't notice cost much anyway - my subs are £625 including £20 for my locker - she paid the subs when at the course on Sunday.

It probably didn't end up costing all that much more than Chrisd's 1 round either!

Bigger risk I would see is moving out of district or some sort of injury stopping ability to play.

But if that's unlikely, good deal.

Every night, I empty my pockets and any £1 or £2 coins go into a jar and by the time my subs are due there is always enough in the jar to cover the cost. :thup:

Yep, it's expensive in some places - but that's they way it is. At ours it costs £220 each just to cover the rent on the course. With all the other costs on top, it's no wonder we have high fees. But we are full.

As to the OP - I don't regard it as one expensive round. I see it more as 30 quid a round and after 6 months or so free golf kicks in. Don't know why but it just seems to make the "mind over pocket" thing a bit easier.

Yes, quite right JohnO, for completion entry, but at least you'll be paying that for me!!!

Funny I got a random HDID email yesterday saying that my handicap had gone to 10.6 (11) from 10.1 even though I haven't done a qualifying round since October so, either it's a balls up by someone or you've got access to the HDID computer!! :lol:

It's not what you know, it's who you know . Look at the positive side though, at least soon any cuts to your handicap will be 0.3 each rather than 0.2

I don't think about it. Once I have made the decision that I am happy to pay it and it has been signed off by Mrs H, I don't think about it anymore.
