Trying to gauge interest in an overseas venture.

Interested, yes but unlikely, nothing left hol wise this year and have a stag weekend for next year as well as Machrihanish (if invited ;) ) so chances of another outing are very slim

Location, Florida ;) or Portugal

Maybe, I've done things like driveline golf and the st andrews deal in the winter. I might be interested in something like that again or the carnoustie country deal. Not particularly keen on flying though.

If i was single the answer would be a definate yes, that's not the case and I go away enough without the wife for golf in this country without travellling overseas

Take this as a no then?
Good idea vig and Im sure some would go but have a look at the ballyliffin thread and then the poll beforehand. Getting guys to a top UK & ire club at rock bottom prices is hard, good luck with Europe. Its very hard to please some people.
Current financial environment doesnt help.

Have a chat with Smiffy when he gets back from Turkey.
I know it's not as cheap as it used to be but might be worth looking at

I will report back after my trip. If it's as good as everybody says it is, I might be interested in going again next year. I haven't organised this trip, but the cost of the actual holiday was £718.00 with flights on top of £280.00 so just on a grand for the week. All inclusive at a top notch hotel and 5 rounds of golf on the "better" courses in the area. Includes transfers to and from the airport and to all of the golf courses we are playing. And I've heard that with the hotel we are staying at, all inclusive is pretty good. I've been on a couple of all inclusive holidays before where if you order a pint at the bar, or a gin and tonic you are served up the local brew. This hotel apparantly serves up the pukka stuff, not cheap watered down crap.
Sounds expensive, but I used to organise the lads trip to the Algarve up until about 10 years ago. I used to rent a villa, book the golf before we went out, organise the flights and car hire. In memory it seemed cheaper but by the time you paid to go out and eat/drink every evening I don't suppose you got much change out of a grand even then.
The guy that has organised this trip is a really good bloke, kept us informed all the way along. If you really fancy it I know that they are already planning on going again next year. To save you a lot of hassle booking I can put your name forward as an interested party (along with anyone else on here that is interested) and he will happily do everything again. As I say, there are 16 of us going this year but he was still punting around for players last year so wouldn't mind if 16 went again, or 30!! You've only got to pug £100.00 a month away into his bank account and it's all paid for in 10 months! That's what I will do if I decide to go again, but don't tell the Missus!
According to the reports, late April or May are the best times to go. Too hot in June/July/August and the courses are knackered by November. I suppose September would be a good month, but that would rule me out.
