I've got a wad of money burning a hole in my pocket as i type and i want (not need) a new set of sticks.

I'm playing ok at the minute but not consistant enough, i said at the start of the season i would buy new irons if i reached my h'cap target but now i'm having 2nd thoughts.

What should i do?

My advice would be into invest in a course of lessons and work on every part of your game. Once you become more consistant and your handicap drops you open up a lot more clubs that will be playable for you

I think its more a lack of concentration at certain times of the rounds when i have a good score going then the wheels fall off.

I'm striking the ball consistantly, i just need to keep it going over 18 holes not 14/15.

They're cracking irons, but not ones that need replacing as your handicap comes down. I bet they're less forgiving than some tour players are using.

If you're hitting them well then keep them. If you're struggling with consistency then either work on your consistency or get more forgiving clubs.

only my opinion :)

you have decent clubs, invest in a course of lessons. you will benefit more from this. but if you really need to buy clubs if it was me, try lessons then get custom fit.

My target was very much the same as you, before i changed i was using taylormade supersteels which i liked, but wanted to the new burners. in all honesty new 500.00 sticks have made no difference at all... but the 150.00 i spent on a 7 video lesson course done wonders and got me from 19 to my current handicap in six months.

instead of spending that 500 on sticks, i would have done better on another course of 7 lessons, and pocketing the 350.00

I was swayed into this "more forgiving, longest iron ever" bullsh*t, but if im honest my supersteels were longer, and im not noticing a whole lot more forgiveness.

buy the irons, get a couple of lessons and enjoy.

after playing 9 holes on holiday with a set of rented titleist blades, i'm considering dumping the mx900s and going for something somewhat more sleek!

Thanks for the replies gents, just got back from our weekly medal and i posted a 87 gross 65nett and was leader in the clubhouse when i left.

If my putter was working better today it would've been a nett 58, dont think i will swap my sticks just yet!
