I've got Netflix on my ipad, can I connect it to my TV so that I can watch it on a bigger screen? My TV as a HDMI socket but no USB.
I also have xbox 360 but don't have Live so can't watch it through that:angry:
Any help appreciated.

Yes, you need to buy a device called Apple TV. They are very good and are about £100. It can connect via an Apple HDMI cable.

Apple TV isn't necessary. Just buy the Digital AV lightening adapter - http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter. Depending on the iPad you have make sure you get the correct USB connector. The link I have provided is for the iPad Air.

Apple accessories always seem very expensive to me, but worth it in the long run I reckon. As per previous post you get an AV connector that fits into Ipad and TV ports.

pin-seeker, why not just get a live tv code- around £30 and you can get netflix (and lots more) through the xbox

no fiddling with wires and charging the ipad which is balanced on a cup- plus it keeps your ipad free for logging into the forum while you watch a netflix movie

I'll look into it,cheers.

A apple to HDMI cable will not work, all of the video streaming applications via ipad etc wont broadcast through to a second screen, so that's Lovefilm, BT sport, Sky Go, netflix. Apple TV or a PC or smart TV is your only option.

Got a new USB cable for iPad from Asda £4.
You don't have to get authentic apple products.

I'll give you a simple cable to charge it can be bought, but the items that carry audio and digital etc tend to only work if you buy authentic apple accessories.

The Lightening AV cable works for NetFlix, which is what the OP asked about. Granted it won't stream Sky Go and I haven't tried BT Sport or LoveFilm and there are some limitations, but for Netflix it works 100% guaranteed.

Probably best to get Xbox live & watch it through that. Or talk the mrs into gettin a smart tv.

Fair enough, couldn't remember the full list, but i know that lovefilm, sky and BT were on it. made a schoolboy error of assuming netflix would be the same!

I would actually double check still. what device are you streaming from? if the OP needs 30pin (old apple plug) then i stand by my first statement that it wont work. May be different with a lightning device though...

It's iPad 2. I'm stressed just thinking about it now. Bring back Blockbusters & Betamax

I have both. The new and the old format for both an iPad Air and the iPad2. Both Lightening Connectors are able to stream Netflix from the iPad to the TV
