I did manage to see Joe two years ago doing another G3, this time with John Petrucci and Uli John Roth. The separate sets were really good although Uli John was a bit loud. As far as practice goes, Joe taught both Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett, and i think it was Steve who was renowned for practicing ten hours a day, not saying that Joe didn't do a bit here and there.

You are right, it was Vai rather than Satriani who was practicing 10 hours a day - the other guitarist they had when i saw them was Malmsteen, plus Robert Fripp as support.

From a "instrumental" rock music perspective, i think Jeff Beck is my favourite - quite a bit of variety across his stuff, plus obviously a fantastic guitarist. His new album has Johnny Depp on vocals.

For me it's more gigs that were "before my time".

I never got to see Led Zep live. Probably the band I've seen live the most is Hawkwind but I really love their stuff from the early/mid seventies - Space Ritual is one of my favourite albums - I'd love to have seen them back then.

The only band I had plenty of opportunities to see and didn't that I regret is AC/DC. Although I'm too young to have seen them with Bon which would have been amazing.
Sorry but I'm going to do to you what Fragger did to me a few posts back.....

Saw Led Zep at Knebworth, Hawkwind was my first ever gig in 1978 and I saw AC/DC with Bon Scott.

I was fortunate to get tickets for that. It was very well done, but there was too much recent stuff for my liking. (IMHO her last truly great album was Hounds of Love). The Ninth Wave was terrific, but the rest didn't grab me so much.

And the uncritical adulation of the audience kind of spoiled it for me. Quite frankly she could have taken a dump on stage and they would have lapped it up. It was not the orgasmic experience the media made it out to be. Yes, she's a national treasure but she's not the second coming.

Not seeing her in 1979 is my big regret. The video of that is without doubt the best music video I've seen.
I was really lucky to get tickets for the 1979 tour and I was blown away by it. Not just for the songs but the overall stage performance. I've never seen anything like it before or since.

My first concert was the Queen at Wembers in 1986. Plus The Alarm, The Quo, and some Aussie band making their debut, Inxs ?.

I‘ve been to a G3 concert with Via, Satriani and Johnson.

Concert I wished I‘d gone to? Perhaps a GNR gig in the 90s.

Would love to have seen that G3 concert but at least it's available on DVD.

I had a ticket to see Floyd on The Wall tour at Earls Court but couldn't go. Always wanted to see Bowie as well but never got the chance.

U2 on my hitlist.

Fortunate enough to have seen Bowie 3 times. The first was at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1983, I hitch hiked on my lonesome up to MK from Crawley when I was 17, I now live about 1.5 miles from the Bowl. Also saw him at Wembley Stadium, and Wembley Arena, fantastic showman, fantastic concerts.

Two for me any Pink Floyd concert and Bruce Springsteen at St Luke’s when he toured the Seager sessions.

I was at Earls Court Oct 94 for the PULSE concert. I'd love to tell you it was crap and you didn't miss anything... but I'm not gonna lie to you, it was the single best night of my life.
As Fragger said, about the Wall, its a spectacle rather than a show.

Yeah, was inevitable on this forum. :ROFLMAO:

I'd love to have seen Hawkwind back then too but it's the early seventies stuff I really love. I was at college with a guy (mature student, lol) who'd seen them live in 1973.... don't think I ever forgave him after that conversation!

We all know it was not the band you wanted to see but Stacia.

My first was Southern Rock and Blackfoot supporting Scorpions at Hammy O.
Scorps must have been having a bad night as Blackfoot completely blew them offstage..

Blackfoot with Rickey Medlocke would blow a lot of better known bands off the stage. He was & is now in Skynyrd.

Been lucky enough to have seen a lot of the bands I like live including Queen, Pink Floyd, Genesis (and Phil Collins solo). I would love to have seen:

Kate Bush
David Bowie
Michael Jackson
The Who in the original line up

Had tickets to see the Nirvana concert due to take place only a few weeks after Kurt sadly took his own life, still have them unused in a draw somewhere am sure

Been fortunate to of seen some great acts, not enough unfortunately, one stand out concert was getting the train to Scotland to see the Boss, we didn't have tickets so brought them off a scalper outside the SEC then getting the last train back to London then straight into work ..... Wouldn't even consider it now ......
