I haven't played as a pair for years possibly 20!
Now my partner and I have 3 rounds under our belts and things look good. I am quite easy going.
My new partner is focused on his game and talks about his shots, thankfully he talks positively. I consider that to be a strength.
Not sure how you gel with your partners, I just try and get my head down and offer them support by consistency/reliability. Not sure if I could tolerate a club chucker though!!
Do any of you look at why a partnership works or just play?

Are you talking Foursomes or 4BBB?

I play for the clubs mixed team in foursomes and mostly play with the same chap, neither of us gets worked up when the other hits a poor shot which I think is important in this format and we do gel well and haven't lost a match yet.

4BBB is another matter and then its a case of hoping if one makes a mess of a hole the other one doesn't. I played in one last year when we both birdied the same hole and then promptly both made a mess of the next, that's not good in 4BBB.

I play foursomes with a good pal of mine but we've never actually won a match. I think it's mostly because we're both too busy taking the piss when the other hits a bad shot. Not conducive to good scoring. Never play well with him in medals either.
