Cold callers

We're all victims of the tech revolution in this regard.
I bought an item off the net a few years ago, the only details I inputted were my address and email.
On the day of delivery I got a text telling me my parcel would be delivered at such and such time. I had never dealt with that company before, nor had I given them my mobile number.
Quite scary who has what info on you, and how easy it is to get it.

I had a guy phone me up wanting to sell me a conservatory and arrange an appointment for a salesman to call at my house and give me a quote. Despite telling him 3 times that I wasn't interested he wouldn't give up so in the end I agreed to a visit from the salesman.

A few days later there was a knock at the door and it was the salesman. I let him in the front door and then led him up the stairs to my first floor maisonette. He asked "How are we meant to put a conservatory on a first floor property". My response was "That's not my problem, you guys are the experts and your guy on the phone wouldn't listen when I told him I wasn't interested".

I'm amazed by those who admit to wasting a cold callers time, just hang up. You don't need to say anything, just put the phone down.

To the OP - maybe tell your parents to hang up on anyone that they don't know. If it's really important, they will call back.
Not sure why it would be so difficult to change phone numbers though?!

It's called revenge for the annoyance of an unwanted call at usually the most inconvenient time. You want to waste my time, I will waste yours and then see whos pisse.d off the most.

My current favourite is accident chasers, who tell me I've had an accident and can get redress.
I tell them I have, and was sat down at the time as well. They then get a more senior person to take over, and whilst I never say it was a car accident all I say I was sat still and it happened. They get all excited and then ask how, so I tell them I was sat down, and then it happened.....they ask "what", so I tell them.....I knocked over my beer, and what a terrible waste of beer it was.
They hang up then.
