If I do go dwon the new irons route are there any models that you would recommend having seen me hit the ball?

I don't even now what 755's look like - I would say something easy to hit - Callaway Fusion (old I know) are like cheats clubs, I had a set of x-16's once they are easy, easy too. Get something you can hit the same whereever you hit it out of the head, then refine your swing get better and then get the players club.....the Nike cavity things (V something) are a nice looking club but then I am a bit biased.....

After seeing jon on numerous occasions at the range and on course fusions and that type of club would be a bad choice.

Jon is at that stage where he hits consistent irons and woods and is working on being able to shape the ball right to left and vice versa as and when needed!

His ball striking is pretty good, I think players irons would be a terrific choice at this stage of his game, definitely not a beginners forgiving set as that would be a hindrance.
I had ping G2s for 3 years as soon as someone put a titlist muscle type club in my hand I knew why it had taken so long for me to hit a draw when i wanted to.

Jon - if you've got the money to burn then get whatever you like the look of best......if you get the 'players' clubs then just realise that the 'bad hit' will be bad.......personally I prefer the clubs that go straight (especially with today's balls that really only want to go in a straight line) than all this draw/fade nonsense....

You have a very valid point about shaping the ball, infact a mate of mine who plays off 6 is always saying "just worry about hitting it straight" himself. He doesnt bother trying to shape the ball at-all and he is a decent golfer so can see what you are saying.

As for the money to burn thing, I wouldnt want to waste money on clubs I cant get on with so perhaps trying a couple of "players" irons on the course is the best bet.

Got medal in 2 weeks so dont want to dick about too much before then, I think on current form with my mickey-mouse handicap I could do ok aslong as I do what you said with the putting!
