Cobra Demo Day yesterday

Yesterday afternoon I managed to finish work early so I could go to the "dentist" (Cobra Demo Day at Hensol Golf Academy (golfbuyitonline) ).

I ended up spending about 2 hours altogether hitting balls with a variety of woods and drivers, listening to stories about Poulter, Ogilvy and Villegas. The guys from Cobra were fantastic, a warm friendly bunch of blokes (who can smash the ball sickening straight and miles) I effectively had about an hour of free Driving coaching with my own coach and two of the Cobra team, I felt quite privileged indeed.

FYI, I now need to persuade the Mrs that I NEED an S9-1 M Offset Driver 10.5 deg, and a S9-1 F Fairway Wood.

I was slicing my drives, and pushing the woods, but felt so confident of bombing the ball about 260 after about 40 mins of coaching.

Of course, I now expect it all to have fallen out of my brain by the time I play tomorrow afternoon with my current sticks.

This is exactly why I keep banging on about demo days as another way of looking for kit other than off the peg or true C/F fitting. I tend to go to as many as I can in the summer so I can try out all the shiny gear but also because at most of these there is always something to gain whether it be a freebie lesson like you had, some freebie gear (Cally and TM giving away balls last year) or just a chance to check your swing on different monitors etc

The L5V F Speed Driver is stunning. I was slicing with it half of the time, so unfortunately I'm going to get an Offset S9-1 M, I preferred the looks of the L5V F, but I'd better get the club that suits me on the custom fit.

I am going to get to the demo day near me on the 1st of June and see what Cobra have to offer, I have heard good things and I'm looking forward to giving the clubs a go.

I do like the look of the Cobra SZ's, did you get to give them a try?

Nope, they did look nice but I've only just bought my S9's. The Mrs would go nuts if I went home and tried to explain that I want to buy new Irons, a 5 Wood and a Driver !!
