Had a lesson a couple days ago and the results were astonishing, my 7 iron speed jumped to 90mph during the lesson!

Just to clarify, this is not a "god I'm good!" thread, I just want to know what my driver speed should be now??

The lesson changed my set up significantly, to a "reverse K" (I had never heard of it before) and the clubhead speed rocketed for the same effort! Frankly its freaked me a bit.

However I have done some youtubeing and I think it makes sense, hips and shoulders on the same plane makes it easier to coil.

Very interested in other forumers experience and opinions!

What were your other numbers ?

A 90 mph 7 iron should have a ball speed around 120 and a carry of 166,

But if any of that energy isn't transfered to the ball correctly it's wasted .

Oh and driver should be around 115mph, welcome to the pga tour

I was genuinely so freaked I didnt take note of the other numbers, except for the overall distance when he announced "and there is your 190yd 7 iron" to which my response was not fit for the forum!

I am going back to him this evening where I will take note of all the other numbers tho.

Also I will have a hit with the driver later too and get some actual stats.

And your 7 iron distance before this was?

Where did you get the info that 90mph 7 iron equates to 115mph driver?

It was def the club head speed that jumped, and it was almost immediate. I will be taking close note of the other numbers later and asking for an understanding of what they mean.

I have only just been fitted for a whole new set of kit as well!

Driver speed is 105 for me, can't remember what a 7 iron was - around 88 according to a slightly fuzzy memory so that's probably wrong...

Picked up 5-7mph being a bit fitter and stretching more but as I've tipped over the 'big four-oh' I've probably only got one of those three wheeled ride-on efforts to look forward to now:eek:.
