Hi, hopefully someone can help point me the right direction..
Speed control turns off and on perfectly..but selecting the right speed is very difficult...the speed jumps up and down or I can spin the controller and sometimes it's makes no difference to the speed..the actual speed speed of the trolley seems to match the number displayed..but actually selecting a speed is very difficult. I'm on my third new speed control knob...the last was a genuine motocaddy one...but problem is no better...can anyone suggest what to try next?

Sounds more like the controller underneath the knob.

The PCB board that the new speed control plugs into?
I don't know, but my logic says I would look at whatever the knob connects too since its obviously some form of rheostat.
Why have you replaced the speed control knob 3 times? Has it been physcially damaged? If so then looking at what component the knob mounts onto needs looking at first I would suggest.

The reason I've replaced the knob is because all the info online says speed selection problems are due to it being faulty or damaged.. first two were very cheap eBay ones, so decided to try a genuine motocaddy one.. alas they didn't really make any noticeable difference..it's slowly getting worse, to the point it's not really usable... I will try a new circuit board, fingers crossed it sorts it

Ok, but the knob is just that..its just an easy way for you to turn the speed controller. Have you tried turning the speed controller with the knob off (is just turn the controller shaft?)
I am assuming though the knob is female fitment and not male.

Ah apologies.. when I said the knob, I actually ment the whole on/off electrical and rotary speed switch being replaced..the plastic button is a very good fit on the shaft...I did try just rotating the shaft without the knob but it unfortunately made no difference.. circuit board is on order so will keep my fingers crossed
Also have the 3 green lights on the control box so all good that end.
It's very strange.. turn it on and starts at speed 1.. rotate clockwise a little and speed can jump to 7 or higher..turn same direction and it can jump down to 4 or any speed it feels like... certainly makes my golf mates laugh when we play lol

Just a quick update... replaced the circuit board that the speed/ on / off button plugs into and it's working perfectly now... thanks for your help
