Personally would like to see 36 holes on one day, and a cut after 18 holes just to put some pressure on the first 18 holes.

I don't like the idea of having a cut for anything with fewer than 3 rounds

Ours is 36 over 1 day and I prefer it that way. Gets it done in one day so that the course isn't blocked up for the whole weekend for the rest of the members that don't want to play in it.

Ours is 36 in one day, with a secondary prize for best net score. Field is limited to 100 places assigned by handicap. Really good day, course is set up fiendishly hard. Not many net scores under par!

Ours is being played over today and tomorrow, and as I'm not ever going to win it so I'm sitting at home typing this, and recovering from Cooden yesterday!

I won the CC a couple of times in my fourtys with 36 in one day but now 20yrs later although my hcap is the same I would have no chance now .
36 in one day is to much physically now , so I don't play.
if my club made it over two days I think more people would enter.
Lets be honest 36 holes off scratch there are only a handful of lads who can win.
But it's nice to test yourself against the best but over 36 it's tough for most of the "older" low cappers.

Should be 9 handicap and lower only, 36 holes over 2-days with a cut to reduce the field. Nobody 10 handicap or greater should enter a club championship as it should be gross scores only.

We have a Silver Medal where players 10 handicap and above go out after the club champ players and is best nett over 2-days with a cut to reduce the field for day 2.

My preferred format is 18 each day.

blue tees Hotchkin and Bracken.

would cap it to 9.4 and below as well.

We do 18 each day but use the white tees.

Not a fan of the top 8 going into match play, I think that's a separate event imo.

That's not very inclusive. Why would you bar people from entering a gross only competition? It's up to them if they want to enter it, even if they have no chance of winning.

The R &A have match play in the Amateur championships, so why not club golfers??

Why does everything have to be inclusive? We are not girl scouts.

36 holes in one day. The qualifier is a few weeks beforehand with the top 20 gross scores getting through.

I don't have an issue with a limited field. How else do you decide who gets in? If it is open to all then your best players might be excluded and then you get a false result.

Just qualified for the scratch of the Tain Club championship.

That was two rounds stroke play on Saturday and Sunday, then top 16 go through to the mach play which is 4 rounds with the final next Saturday and 36 holes match play.
