Close Shave.... Very Lucky Boy!

Sounds horrible that

As a new golfer, anyone tell me why roots are so dangerous? Few times I have had my ball in the trees and hit a shot, never had a problem yet

As this thread describes, the OP hit his shot and the ball hit the root and then his face. When in trees you may think you have a clear shot but on hitting the ball you hit a hidden root, the ball could go anywhere, you club comes to a sudden stop and could break, or worse, the ball comes back off another tree and hits you or with the sudden stop you break a wrist.

Some forummers advocate always going for the hero shot out of the trees, some like myself are of the opinion that we play for fun, a handicap cut or maybe the drinks at the end of the round and will play the safe shot.

I'm wearing one of these to forestpines:D

Reading this thread is probably gonna save me an eye! I've only been playing 12 Months and never think twice about hitting the ball out when its close to a tree. Will defo take more care in looking for roots etc
