I like the retro look of these Cleveland Classic drivers and am thinking about going for one, just wondered how people are getting on with them.

Spanking it, pretty much sums it up.

Its long, low spin, easy to line up, deep face is forgiving and its stupidly long!

Hit it low on the face, it goes long with low spin...

Hit it high on the face it goes long with low spin...

Hit it left and right on the face and it goes long with low spin...

i was after the 1st classic. ur rights, its really light. i thinks its dwn to the shaft. i would love to hit 1 with a heavier shaft!

Ive got the stock shaft and 9* loft, it feels solid. I cannot imagine wanting it to be heavier though! The lightness is part of the reason it goes straight and has so low spin I guess.

our shop never had any demo clubs so never got around to hitting it. still 1 of the best looking sticks on the market!

Tried the original and the deep face is certainly a confidence booster and it did travel well.

Like the look of the new one more though.

Its the first one I was after,is that as good as the latest one?

I have the original 290 with the stock Miyazaki 43 gramme shaft, Stiff flex. Bought it a few weeks ago and find it a little too light for my taste. Last Fri had a fitting for the new Classic XL but found that no different. Perhaps does not suit my swing.

Have arranged a fitting for 913 D2 so if you are interested in a low mileage 2nd hand club in vgc send me a PM, otherwise it will be going on ebay.

ive been in the market for a new driver and was tempted by this one, i liked the look and feel of this driver in hand but never got a chance to try it. I ended up going for the nike str-8 fit vr pro driver for a steal of a price as ive tried this before.

I have the SL290 in R and rather like it - at least when I am swinging with a bit of control. Indeed, I have hit some of my longest drives ever with it. For consistency though - at least on running fairways - I have a more consistent combo of at least the same length.

Tried a Tour 310 in S and liked that too but a mate happened to have SL290 at a good price at the right time.

Not keen on the false retro look of the Classic but the head shape should suit me.

Apparently, splitting the ultra/super light shafts and the matching heads doesn't really work as they ar 'made for each other'. Miyazaki is part of the same empire as Cleveland (and Srixon).

I'm quite sure that it's not as light as my driver!!!

Looks lovely. Wouldn't hesitate to buy cleveland again. Actually, I just bought a new mashie today.

I have had a classic since May and it is very nice - although I never compared to anything else - saw it in the shop with Smiffy just before a big pairs comp, liked the look of it, heard some nice stories, hit my firs shot on the first - impetuous decision making at its best!:D Must be getting time for a change and the thought of adjustable thingamejiggs might lead to the next quick buy!:)

Hmmm, marmite looks I'd say. I personally think it looks a little awkward and doesn't really work... much prefer the looks of the new black XL.

However, whilst I've not used it, I've read a lot of reviews and I understand the 270 and 290 heads are one of the lowest spin heads available.
