At the risk of being labeled anal I routinely make sure I clean my gear after every round. I played today with 10 handicapper who had a full field on each club and it didn't seem to make any difference to him.Do you clean or just stick 'em in the shed till next week?

Oh Drawbay, your soooo Anal!!!

i have a groove cleaner which i put in my pocket before each round it and use it before most shots, nothing over the top, just a quick rub. If i get a big lump of muck on them i wipe them with my towel before hand. They are usually pretty spotless after the end of a round. I take my clubs home about once a month and give them a good soapy scrub in the sink (much to the delight of HID) I personally think keeping all the grooves free from muck helps the quality of my play

I have transparent covers on my irons so need to keep them clean and dry otherwise dampness would be stuck between the cover and the club and that would start to look cruddy before long.

allways clean after ever round have allways done it and still will

a friend of mine is the same never cleans his and before every shot stands there with a tee trying to clean the grooves

I generally clean mine around once a month. I'll clean them after a round if it's been wet and muddy as I am a bit of a cleanliness freak when it comes to my golf gear.

Shoes tend to get a polish after every round, especially the spikes as I can't stand mucky spikes.

I clean my clubs after every shot on course, paying particular attention to the 9 iron and wedges to make sure the grooves are spotless. Dependant on how much practicing I've been doing I'll take them home every two weeks (if I've hit a lot of balls or worked on my short game) or once a month in winter and give the grips a good clean. Its amazing how quickly wedges etc get dirty grips from just practicing and how good they feel afterwards.

I clean my clubs each week, I use warm water with some washing up liquid in and dry them and once done the 14 I wipe them down with Yes! grip and club cleaners.

I used to know a 2 handicapper (played county level) who would just turn up on the tee, ping the caked on mud off of his iron from the last round and hit the ball.
Didn't make the slightest bit of difference to his game...he was brilliant.

Talking of how good clean grips feel, I've just changed my grips to these

A bit more than the usual grip, but well worth it.
Before anyone says, I've got the blue ones, not the pink :)

Bob, imho they are the best grips for this countries weather. I had my eye on the Patriot ones but my pro has been messing me about on ordering them, I even offered to buy them myself and asked for him to fit them.

They're what I'll re-grip mine with when the current ones need replacing - Irons soon, then wedges, then woods as that's the order that they're wearing out and also so it spreads the cost a bit. Blue ones or maybe red....

Have a look at the Sharpro ones, they are just as good at half the cost. Gamola golf sells them and they have spanking reviews.Oh and if you cant re-grip your clubs tut, tut. it's really easy. Have a look on U-tube they show you how to do it in seconds. A stanley, double sided tape and white spirit. Shouldn't take 1/2 hour to do a set.

how long should grips last (I know, depends how much you use them).
I regripped my driver in April (Golf Pride New Decade MultiCompound) and it seems to have gone hard and slick in places - where my thumbs sit in particular.

I did nothing but regrips as an assistant along with re-whipping woods (thats how long ago it was) and so have the choice either way. If I'm feeling particularly invigorated with my game chances are I'll do it myself but if the clubs are misbehaving they'll get put in the corner of the workshop for the pro or assistant to do and see if they add some magic to them while they're going

Sorry homer but that makes no sense! if you can do 'em why pay someone else? unless you are a lottery winner of course.
