Been playing just short of two years now. I broke 100 after 9 months but couldn't get below 90. Managed to break 45 over 9 holes a few times, but couldn't hold it together over the eighteen.

However, this changed today with a PB of 84. I feel great as I have worked my butt off and finally starting to see the results. It could have been even better as I was 3 off the tee twice and also had to take a penalty for unplayable lie.

I think the difference was my mentality and not dwelling on a bad shot or bad luck and just working on one shot at a time.

This has given me a lot of confidence and my target this year was to break 90, left it late but managed it. Hope everyone enjoyed their golf over the weekend

Sounds like you've got it cracked... there's never any point in dwelling on a bad shot, it only spoils the next one.

Great shooting

Keep up the hard work and it'll be sub 80 next.

I never dreamt of sub 80 before today. But I guess with 5 penalty strokes today, I could actually have got it - that would have been ridiculous. Going from breaking 100, then breaking 80 missing out 90 - ha ha

I'm in much the same boat, well done, it feels great when you shoot so low.

I played 9 on Saturday, was level par after 5, then with a duffed chip and a lipped out putt, in the drink another hole and a dodgy second shot another left me 6 over after 9. But it still felt good at least 4 shots below my handicap at that stage. Came off due to having to wait 5 minutes to take each shot after getting to the 6th tee. Come to think of it, maybe that is what put me off my game, I hate getting held up for no reason and the group in front where a complete hole behind but would not let us play through.

Well done again, and I'm sure sub 80 will come in the next few months. Keep it up

Having never broken 90 to shooting an 84..... very, very well done.

One must feel rather happy with one's self....and rightly so. Well played.

Well done! I'm in exactly the same boat, Ive broken 90 in bounce games a couple of times but not in a comp, 91 is my best. It'll come though soon. I'll race you down to 80!;)

I think that a lot of us could learn something from this!
