Afternoon all,

As a newbie to the joys of golf, this year is my first golf Christmas. I've totally immersed myself in this beautiful game and have spent a fair amount of money already on c/f clubs, a bag, waterproofs and a bit of kit. I've got some of my own money still to spend but am starting to wonder whether its best to wait till Chrimbo and the sales.

The purpose of this topic is twofold:

1. How good are the January Sales for golfing equipment and clothing? Am I best served asking for the funds to spend in January or asking for the gifts and take full advantage over the Christmas holiday?

2. What's on everyone else's Xmas wish list?

Got my first putting lesson on Saturday and that will hopefully help me narrow down the world of putters for the number one spot on my wish list.

Look forward to your views...

Also check the AG website nice and early in the mornings around Christmastime.
Last year they cocked up a load of their prices and a few of us quicker ones benefitted from some almighty mistakes....SkyCaddie 2.5 for £97.00 anyone???

Online golf stores are normally good places for clothing in the sales but I would never buy clubs unless I'd hit them first. Its worth bearing in mind that a lot of maufacturers will be bringing new lines out in 2010 and even if they have already hit the stores (G15, R9 etc) then it won't be until next year that the 2008/9 models currently on the shelves will start to be seriously discounted.

Don't worry about the old dear, she's most definitely getting treated at Xmas time! Do you think it's worth having a hit now with a range of clubs so I know what I'm after? I'm also wondering do putters really change in price that drastically? I've seen drivers and the like with silly money knocked off but rarely seen a bargain putter.

They've tightened up on that - there's a big bold statement in their T&C's stating that in the event of a cock-up on the pricing front they reserve the right to cancel the transaction - meaning if they accidentally price it wrong they don't have to honour it. I imagine its all legal - can't think that AG would put this up if the legal eagles hadn't ok'd it.
