At a shopping centre near me, they have a Giving Tree where you can donate gifts to children with nothing. My 17 year old daughter has just bought gifts for a 14 year old who's request on the Giving Tree for for pyjamas and toiletries. I can't imagine what that young girl's life must be like if her dearest wish at Christmas is for pyjamas and toiletries.

Please please PLEASE see if there is anything similar near to you and donate whatever you can.

Our local radio station arranges a collection for the areas children so we leave a present for both a boy and girl at their collection centers ,
nice to help out whenever we can.

Obviously there are people in need all year round and not just kids, it's not unknown even for grumpy old golfers to need some help :)

But it always affects me more at Christmas. I have no idea why but I always have a closer look around at this time of year to see what I can do to help those less fortunate than me.

We also do a box for a homeless person , just a few toiletries , socks, gloves etc it really is welcomed by the charities this time of year and i believe it
is better than a cash donation that may be swallowed up by the bureaucracy that many charities need to operate these days.

Totally agree. I arranged to do the shoe box appeal at work 2 years ago and I think we had around about 40+ full shoeboxes. Rather do that than give money.

Lady Doon noticed an Tesco price bollocks up the other day.
Peak Freans Xmas assortment biscuits £3 each or 2 for £2...…..she bought a dozen for the local foodbank.
At the checkout the computer took a long time to accept the transaction.
PS the foodbanks will thank you for donating toilet rolls.
