Cheating Woods Quits Golf To Focus On Family

What are the odds on him not coming back at all?
He'll get sledged at every event he goes to, he'll have to have so much security that nobody will be able to see him anyway. And if there's more revelations to come out it'll take even longer for the possibility of forgiveness by the public.

In my opinion - that's it, he's gone, not to return. You read it here first.....

If he does come back his game will go for a Burton.
Look what happened to Faldo. At the top of his game, winning everything. Got involved with another bit of stuff, marital strife and his golf went down the crapper.
We're dooooomed Captain Mainwaring, doomed.
;)

The American public have a great ability to overlook maritial infidelity once the initial dust has settled (Cruise, Clinton etc) and even stars committed of other more heinous crimes (Tyson and rape) once they serve their dues are usually accepted back into public life again. I think this will be another case in point. He'll do some coast to coast interviews in March saying he has reflected ad is deeply ashamed..... I need help..... etc and be back for the Masters. The golfing public at Augusta will love him being back and with the way tickets are so guarded and the event so keenly marshalled no-one will dare step out of line and heckle. I actually think it'll be the events outside the US that he'll have the problem (Open) where the public don't always forgive as easily as the US.

I thought it was interesting in the papers today that his wife has now bought a luxury home in Sweden that is only accessible by boat. Me thinks she is setting up a bolt hole so that when the inevitable divorce goes through she'll have a great bolthole to flee to with the kids.

I just find this all dreadfully sad and sordid. Here was a guy who apparently had it all....superb physique and looks, an affable nature, truly awesome golfing talent plus the mental strength to be able to apply it to world-dominating effect, bringing him immense wealth and a beautiful wife & children and anything money can buy. He could and should have gone down in history as a sporting colossus and possibly the greatest golfer ever. He could yet turn out to be best ever as far as the dry statistics go. But for my money he will never be a sporting 'great' in the mould of Pele or whoever your own hero may be. Like Maradona, he is tarnished goods. To be sure, the media will become bored in due course once they have wrung out the last grubby dregs of the story and he will return and once more dominate his sport but it will, he will, never be the same.

I reckon that if his wife agrees to stay with him (and there is no reason why she should), then he will not play tournament golf for at least six months, possibly never again. If she decides to take him to the cleaners, then he will be back in time to play a couple of tournaments before The Masters. After all the posturing has finished, my money is on the latter.
