Cheating in sports

If people think cheating is the exception they are naive. Some people cheat to gain an edge in the club medal or at events like the trilby tour with virtually nothing on the line. Now take that same human behaviour but put livelihoods and huge sums of money on the line, at that level where every single step to get an edge is taken some will get very close to the line and some will go over it.

One of the most fascinating things is the perception of cheating amongst the public. PED usage is a good example of this, the sports with lots of positives get labelled as dirty, when there are plenty of other sports with a suspiciously low number of positives compared to the level of performance of the athletes, such as in NFL, Rugby etc..

Well many clubs have been caught cheating financially- City , Madrid , PSG etc

A few have been caught with poaching kids - Liverpool , Chelsea

Then there is Cricket and match fixing - Cronje and one of the IPL teams , spot fixing with Amir etc

Loads in all sports

But videoing a pitcher to figure out the calls ?! That’s seriously not allowed in American Rounders ?

Not sure cheating is the right word for every example given across the boards.

Teams/Individuals seeking to gain an advantage over an opponent without breaking rules is not cheating imo.

Putting somebody feigning injury or stealing a couple of yards for a throw in etc, is not in the same category as somebody taking drugs or assaulting an opponent on purpose imo.

I can’t think of any Sport that has been immune to some sort of controversy, whether that be classed as cheating or not.

That fellow in the Olympics years ago that cheated at fencing. He'd rigged up some sort of electronic device inside the guard.

Just so the world doesn’t seem so gloomy... Jack Lisowski just called a foul on himself at a crucial point in a frame, it would appear the ref and opponent had missed it. But he did the right thing and took the foul.

Excellent example and a credit to his sport.

All good until it turns out to be linked to suspicious betting patterns! ;)
