Perfectly sensible....if you are on £80k a year and can afford to pay your annual subs in one foul swoop.
For the majority earning a lot, lot less and struggling to pay their £50.00 a month via direct debit and continually having to justify their membership to a long suffering spouse, I think this would be the final nail in the membership coffin.
Viva la municipal golf!!!!!

Doesn't everybody earn £80k a year ?

Blimey. My club has a sign in the car park telling people not to change their shoes in the car park. I often park under it before changing my shoes in the car park: - well, don't tell anyone, but often I arrive in spikeless shoes, play in those shoes, blow the grass off them before going into the bar for a drink with my playing partners. :o

I suppose this might well take me into all sorts of bother with some folk, and could result in all manner of disciplinary action; the Death Penalty is quite possibly still in the Club Rules.

My observation is that the majority of golfers don't take a complete outfit with them to the golf course anymore, don't take a shower, blow dry their hair or have a 4 course lunch. (Perhaps I'm just going to the wrong courses)
