no need i put my golf shoes on at my house, drove to the course played finished straight into my van and drove home. my crocs rock. #spikeless

Me too, put on my Ecco Streets, drive to course, play, sometimes go for a drink if they dare let me in wearing Ecco Streets, drive home. Simples ;)

I have just had a warning as such and been accused of trolling/flaming for the 2 polls recently put up!

Homer has a PUBLIC blog and on Twitter this morning he has linked to that said blog looking to have a discussion on the said subjects whilst openly stating that they would or could be controversial!

How can my interjection of that when he is already linking and discussing the subjects in the public domain then be classed as flaming or trolling on here?

I have been asked (told) not to post like this again, well that's very easy sir

Goodbye

i dont do this all the time, but sometimes i dont want to talk to folk or go in the clubhouse. i just want to go out on the course and forget about things.

Top flouncing sir, they are falling like flies nowadays. I'd implore you to stay as you mostly post sense I think. And I think it was you posting on Crossfields twitter feed the other day.

Unless you are a Daily Mail reader, in which case sod off and good riddance ;)

World of difference between "dislike" which would suggest a particular hatred and winding me up which they do. Semantics aside though it isn't the changing the shoes per se that is the REAL issue. It has a lot to do with them never using the clubhouse at all and therefore never contributing towards a club they already pay a huge fee to join. Surely it is simple economics that the more people using the 19th the more cash a club has and the less the fees need to go up year on year.

Maybe but your idea that clubs shouldnt let you join unless you spend a certain amount at the bar is absurd .

This doesn't seem right. I posted to a couple of twitter contacts I talk with, one of which runs a discussion board on a Wednesday evening and put this up as a discussion topic. The OP picked up on it and disagreed with my views and put it up here for discussion. I've no problem with anything he said on here, on the blog or twitter. Not sure if anything untoward was said but having glanced briefly at both threads I thought this was a lively and provocative couple of threads with a variety of opinions and seemed to be a refreshing change. If the mods could PM if I missed anything but think a warning for trolling seems unjust

Haven't got access to the original piece (in work and can't access blogs) but pretty sure I didn't actually say that in those words and certainly didn't wish to imply that members shouldn't be allowed to join a club on any grounds, especially spend per head at the bar

Well put Martin...

Jings I never thought changing shoes in a car park could become a major issue with folk.
I see the beginnings of a TV comedy series here.

Girvais as the car park pleb, Dave/Rodney as the club sec etc etc.

What will we call it....................?

Got it.......... Changing Shoes

Well said Homer, After all its a forum and not everyone has the same opinion. All you have to do is look at TT thread.

Episode 2 - Gervais refuses to allow the Captain priority on the first tee and World War III breaks out... This could run for years..

Blimming heck

It soon escalates on here.

Honestly (and i mean this) i though this was a pretty banal subject matter. I never thought that people would be so passionate either way about the subject.

Not sure if reading this has broadened or narrowed my horizons :smirk:

Spoken like a true Scot! :)

For what it is worth, I absolutely think that everyone should have a minimum spend. If a card system for bar payments is in place then I think that £200 should be put on this by every member at the start of the calendar year and this should form part of their annual subs.

This encourages the social side of the club and ensures that expenditure to run and maintain the catering and bar is adequately covered.

And if I cant afford that, then I give up my membership?

Nonsense Snelly, I know where you come from on it but if you increase fees by £200 and get it back as you spend it then a lot of people would potentially reconsider if they can afford their membership.

But that scheme doesn't take into account those who, for whatever reason, don't wish to socialize at the Golf Course. Any Club that brought that scheme in would immediately lose the Car Park members. Maybe the costs would balance out, I don't know, But the remaining members would have no one left at the club to subsidize the bar. The current system seems best set to cater for EVERYONE, not just the members whose social life includes the Clubhouse...
