I had to change to an overlap grip 2½yrs ago after hitting one of my finger knuckles with a hammer in a freak accident :o it's finally feeling better and I'm changing back to an interlocking grip hopefully (if it passes the test)

Using the overlap seems to put more grip pressure on the 1st two fingers of the left hand and feels quite 'wristy' whereas an interlocking feels like there's more pressure in the 3 smaller fingers, whilst the overlap felt comfy I never felt quite 'connected' to the club.

Does anyone else chop and change their grip? How does it feel and which is better for you?

nb: Just the knee/wrist/back/shoulder to fix now

Chop and change mine a bit, started playing with an interlock grip, fade tge ball this way, changed to an overlap to help my release of the club, and hit a nice draw this way, when it gets hooky interlock to get it closer to neutral. As long as it feels comfy and the ball goes where you want, don't think it really matters what grip u use.

I can only use the interlocking grip now. I tried to change back but I seemed to slice everything and I wasn't as powerful. I still use overlapping grip when I'm within 30 yards of the green for some reason.

Started with baseball; changed to Vardon - took about 2 hours to get used to it. Can't get on with interlock - except for putting.

Ankle now fine for me, just foot, achilles, knee and hip to go - all left of course! What a bunch of crocks we are!

Baseball when I started playing and have just started using the interlocking in the last week.

I used to fade everything but am now either hitting my irons straight or with a slight draw, driver is still a work in progress but is slowly improving.

I have always been interlocking but last year I found that I had started to strangle the club so played with a baseball grip for a few months. I found it very easy to swap one, I think grip changes are something that I have always found easy. I am back to interlocking now and it feels very natural.

I changed from interlocking about 3 years ago and it did allow me to get a more neutral grip from a strong one with the interlock. I am sure that my golf is better because of the change

Embrace it James and it will soon feel normal

I was interlock for the majority of my golfing life, only changed 'cos of the hammer incident, weird how it's taken 2½yrs to heal  I'm looking forward to going back to it.

I changed to interlocking from Vardon grip a couple of years ago. Felt the right hand was slipping with old grip, but now more secure, and more of a one piece grip.

I changed to Interlock around three years ago, I have fairly wide hands but shortish fingers. I had developed some bad calluses with the Vardon grip, my coach suggested that the overlap would suit my hand better. I have found it works very well for me and creates a better feeling of the hands working together.

I started on interlocking. But now use Vardon. But can chop and change as the mood takes. Funny this thread came up. As I went down the field this weekend and practised hitting with both grips. For me there was no real difference between them. (But then the ball goes where it wants whatever I do).

I was interlocking for about 3 weeks. It felt like my fingers were going to snap, or pop out of their sockets. I changed to over lapping. Much better.

Prior to that, I had a base ball grip. I only changed because I can't use a lead better training grip with a base ball grip. Only interlocking or over lapping.

I have small hands so learned the interlocking grip from Nicklaus golf many moons ago, when I came back to the game I tried Vardon but never quite got on with it, back to interlocking now..

However when I had my first lesson a year or so ago the pro noticed my interlocking grip was wrong, I used to try to fully interlock them (goes without saying I was far from neutral as a result!), he said to uncoil them so that the knuckle of my right small finger is against the knuckle of the middle finger on the left hand.

I have always used interlocked grip and have never thought of changing.
Don't know if it would feel comfortable, which the interlock is.

Interlocking grip for woods / irons. Reverse overlap for putting. Seems to see me right!
