Lampard has just been announced as the new Derby manager. I hope it goes well for him. A good sized club with decent potential, looks a decent move for him from the outside.
For those who watch that league, is it a good move for him or is it another one of the those poisoned chalices?

Decent team, but always seem to run out of steam at the end of the season. Imagine he will use his Chelsea contacts to get some players in on loan.
He will need to get them into the play offs at least, and in such a competitive league that will not be easy. Imagine he will get more time than most though.

Lampard - why give a guy with zero experience and track record a 3 year contract?
It's an interesting one. They played well in the first leg of the play offs but seemed to tire in the second leg at the Cottage. A lot of their squad are thirty plus and so perhaps the club feels he can come in with fresh ideas, attract fresh players and rebuild. I would be worried as a supporter about his lack of experience but hopefully he will have learned under the decent managers he's played for. There will a level of expectation to get to the pay offs again as a minimum and I'd be worried if he can deliver. Will be interesting to see how much time he's given
Jody Joining Frank as his assistant, could this be the start of an excellent pairing, Jody has done some great stuff with the youngsters at Chelsea, certainly going to be keeping an eye on Derby with those 2 at the helm.
I think that's a great appointment. He's done great job with the Chelsea youth team (irrespective of the huge talent and resources he'd have had there) and will do a lot to attract younger players in which will help build a new younger squad.
