I was played some time ago on a rainy day with casual water on most greens. As I stood on the tee of a long par 3, the head greenkeeper ( low handicap player) was returning from squeegeeing the green. He said to me that he had left the squeegee next to the green if we needed it. I ended up with a dry lie but a large area of casual water on my line. I know I can take relief from this by moving my ball, but I picked up the squeegee to move the puddle. My fellow competitors said I could not do it ( none of them had heard the green keeper’s comment). I ended up moving my ball, but was It within my right to move the water?
