Careless

In a mixed greensomes match yesterday on 11th hole tee shots of self and PP were within yards of each other. After much discussion my PP and I decided that she would play the second shot - she then proceeded to hit her ball quite sweetly 175yds straight up the middle. Ooops - loss of hole. Very careless and VERY annoying. And we lost match 2 and 1. Ah well.

Always remember playing in a medal at Stoke Rochford and was doing OK on the 15th fairway. I took a practice swing and clipped the ball with the toe of the club and sent it scuttling out of bounds. Never recovered from that and messed up the remaining holes. I now stand well away before I have a practice.

Never say never! I'm sure you will as most of us have!

lol, I have no doubt I will take a 7 (or worse!) at a par 3 again...what I meant was I will never so lazily/carelessly chip out onto the fairway again with out giving a bit more consideration!

Another reason not to have a practice swing

Surely the prize must go to Hale Irwin for his air shot when tapping in at the 1983 Open. He finished second by 1 to Tom Watson.

I've done it too. Didn't cost me a Major, but it was my 8th shot on a par 3. :o

Yeh...I tell myself this every time it happens. I never learn!

Ahhh Mixed Greensomes - the best form of golfing torture!

I enjoy the format - but the BIG problem is that your balls can be very far apart - and you can spend quite a while deciding which to play. In our situation on Saturday our balls were close together on the fairway (ladies tee 75yds in advance of gents I must add :)) and that was in a large part why we played the wrong ball.

A playing partner drained an awesome 40-footer, only to realise that he played my ball :D The next hole he picked up my ball and put it in his pocket, thinking that he'd found a lost one :D

I went through a phase when I couldn't hit a single good iron shot. Every iron, from 6-iron to PW was a shank, top or duff, and I mean EVERY shot. But my game strangely benefited from this phase, as my tee-shots, hybrid and short-game had to pick up the pieces for the poor mid-game, so they all had to get better :D
