Cards for h/cap-play from whites or yellow tees?

Thanks for all replies and points taken on board:thup:

As im new to the club only just finding out whos who so will try and root the handicap sec out and ask him, hope my 1st card will count as i hit a decent score and think it would prob be my best unless i have a faultless round

I hit an 85 and par is 72 didnt hit any more than double bogie on few holes.

Par of the course is irrelevant its the sss that counts. Its not technically the best card that counts, all 3 are entered into the computer and it uses algorithms to work out your h/c. It will be close to your lowest card tho.

Algorithms? Where has that come from?

The process is simple. The best adjusted score in relation to SSS is used together with any other information available such as previous playing and handicap history.

Here is a reply from Handicapmaster (IMO the best handicapping software) to a question asking if they could provide a computer solution for initial handicap calculation:

We have not implemented any processing to input the three cards for handicap into HandicapMaster and turn this into a handicap award. This is because:

CONGU clause 16 is too vague – 3 or maybe more cards can be requested for handicap allotment depending upon each club, and the computed handicap value can be ignored by the committee anyway if they have a reason to allocate a different handicap!

And from 2012 onward as part of the revised CONGU Software licence (This is a separate document from the CONGU UHS handbook, I am sorry I cannot reveal the detailed contents for legal reasons) which all Software vendors must sign to obtain a licence, we are explicitly prevented from offering a facility to automatically calculate the initial handicap first award.

looks like 72 par and sss so that card would more than likely generate a 13 h/cap

Just looked at the card and theres no sss printed on it,the cards are different to last year when i played as a visitor so ill find out what it is when i next go down..
