Car remote fob

I have a starter button in my CLS. I could remove it, for security reasons, but any thief can buy a new one off ebay for £12 so there is no point.

Assume the actual key needs to be within x proximity for it to start though? I read a good one where the car would start and run non stop until switched off. The guy started the car, drove however many miles and got to his destination to realise his keys were still at home close enough to the drive to start the car! Think his wife had to drive the keys to him and it wasnt popping to the shops iirc!!

Yeah, but any car thief can use a relay device to bypass this, unless the key is stored in a metal box, like mine normally is.

Having keyless entry and start in the Mazdarati I looked at things to stop the signal and unfortunately no metal box did it, nor did the RFID bags from Halfords. I have just bought Defender singal blocking bags from Amazon, they came as a pair are about £7 and a decent size, and they work perfectly blocking the signal sent from my key.
It might surpise you when you have that key in your tin or whatever it is and the car can be unlocked or started.

If you hold the open button down for about 5 seconds it moves all of the windows down. Very handy on a warm day so that the oven like heat can escape as you walk towards the car. I had it on a previous car for about a year before I discovered it. Very handy, it is something I use quite a lot.

I think it does something with the headlights when you lock it if you hold the button down long enough. It is there to keep them on for 10 secs or so to show you into the house or something. We have a security light on our driveway so I have never used it.

Long hold on "unlock" and down come the windows. Long hold on "lock" and up they go again. Only had the car 2 years and never knew ...

Superb SE Tech. Pretty much the same. A cracking car, I'm really pleased with it.

If it makes you feel better I only discovered the potential for this on another forum, a car one, when people talked about things you didn't know your car did. This was mentioned and I went and checked it on my car at the time, a Volvo. It's a handy trick in warm weather.

I have checked, and key in box, can't open doors or boot. Does the job fine. Other key is in my safe, and that is secure as well. My key box is designed for car keys, for exactly this purpose.

Student went out to the car(not mine) with the examiner, got in, started the car and off they went.
Instructor was obviously close enough form the car to start. He had the "key" in his pocket.
20 minutes later they both walked back in. Student had stalled and because they didn't have the key she couldn't restart the car...

To be fair, if she hadn't stalled it they'd have got round without problem. But it was a bit of a schoolboy error
