Scraped the ice off the windscreen and got in the car at 7.30 this morning. Turned on the engine and the outside thermometer read 14 degrees. According to the met office, it was 1 degree.

Got in the car again about an hour ago, still baltic outside, this time it read 17 degrees! after driving for 30 minutes, it had dropped to a balmy 16.5 degrees.

Hopefully it will sort itself. Was trying to think if it could cause me a problem, but other than not getting the normal warning when the temperature drops below 4 degrees, I can't think of anything.

I find it annoying when the car starts beeping. I keep wondering whats up. If the temperature display was fixed on a balmy 17 odd, i would be quite happy. I am quite capable of recognising when it is frosty.

I find it quite annoying when mine flashes up "RISK OF ICE".
I know! I've just spent the last 10 minutes scraping it of the feckin' windscreen!!

The lad had this with his Golf...
After changing sensor [to be found behind front bumper] there was no difference...
He was then told he needed to disconnect battery for 15-20 mins to force a reset...
Was all OK after that...
So, wasn't sure if it was a sensor fault or if just a reset would've sorted it...

Tonight, driving home from the coast over the hills mine went from 6 to zero within less than two miles.

About 5 years ago, during a big snow, I had to travel 40 miles to go about 10 miles.
It went from -10 in my village to zero at the coast to -11 at my destination.
