Can I replace my 5 wood with a hybrid?

Hi everyone just a quick question regarding the clubs I lag around with me everyone weekend.

Have any of you out-there replaced your 5 wood with a 2 or 3 hybrid? I now carry 3 wedges meaning when I buy a hybrid I will have to take a club out of my bag.

On a sidenote I was thinking of buying the taylormade burner rescue in the 3 iron version for £75 is this a good price and more over a good club?

Any help is much appreciated.

You can, but I am not sure lower loft hybrids are any easier to hit than a five wood. I have just outed my 16 degree hybrid as impossible to hit, so that is my opinion. My 5w stays in the bag.

I use my 3, 5 and 7 woods as they are all awsome and then have my 3 iron to SW and a 60 degree lob.

I have never hit a hybrid and can't see why I would need one if all is going well.

But if your asking for permission to change then you have my blessing!

I have a 19 degree rescue and a 5 wood. If you are struggling with your 5 wood, change it.

And yes thats a good price, what degree you going for?

I use both my 5 wood and hybrid extensively during a round both fromthe fairway/rough on long par 4's and 5's but also off the tee on the longer par 3's especially into the wind so the only option I would have would be to take out a 4 iron which would make my bag top heavey in regards low lofted clubs

I'm with Murph and eagle....unless I'm very much wrong, the shafts on hybrid clubs are shorter than a wood.....logically, you're going to need 17 degrees or less in the rescue.....that puts it in the "harder to hit" bracket for me.
I have a 20* rescue and an 18* 5 wood. Perfect for me.

Cheers for the advice guys I think I'll throw out the S wedge from my bag which I use about twice in a round if at all (the 52* will do the job) and get a new 5W (possibly the mizuno F60? It looks brilliant) and the TM Rescue in 22*. I'll just have to save for a while and forget about that xbox 360 lol!!

I carry a 5 wood, but not a 3 iron as I find the wood easier to hit. If faced with a shot where I would need to hit the 3 iron, I will choke down on the 5 wood and hit that instead. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't...I'll either balloon the ball if it's into the wind, or block slightly to the right as I think I may have too much club and ease off it slightly.
I have seen the Wilson Fybrids for sale on ebay at a good price and reading the blurb it states that the 3h model (21 degrees) would be the one to go for as a 3 iron alternative.

Do you reckon it would do the job for me and fill the possible "gap" I have in my armoury?
