As a single figure handicapper,

How often and how do you practice to keep up your standard of play to score par or buffer zone most comp rounds off single figure handicap?

Because of various commitments I only play once a week on the course then a comp at the weekend and feel this is nowhere near enough practice.

I eagerly await to see just how you do it :)

I do about the same but have a large garden so can do chipping and pitching a couple of nights a week at home.

Will prob start doing more as i want to get lower than i am now.

Hi

I never practice (I do try to play at least twice or three times a week ;))

If i cant maintain my handicap without practice my handicap needs to go up, and probably will lol

Edgey

Practise about 5/6 hours a week. 2 hours of that long game. Play twice a week. This is when i'm in a school term thhough. In the holidays its a LOT more.

It amazes me how many of the single figure guys never seem to put that that much effort into practicing on here. They must either live on the course and play most days or be graced with stacks of natural talent. In either case it makes the rest of us pretty fed up! :D :D

I rarely ever get time to practice. I think lAst year I managed 5 hours total, I know it is around that figure because my daughter was with me both times.

I can't really maintain my single figures unless I practise.
This last 7-10 days I've been really working on my game, keeping the irons and woods in shape but mostly practising my short game from 100 yards and in.
Probably 10% long game 90% short game.

If I don't practise I might as well be playing off 18 not 8.

Just can't spend time at the range hitting balls bores the life out of me was there twice last year, when I do go we end up playing a pitching game for cash to keep it interesting.

I try to get 2 rounds a week and very occasionally manage 3 depending on work etc.

In summer I play every Wednesday and Saturday in club comps. I will probably get out for one other round a week for a casual knock. The odd golf society day, team comp or knockout may mean 4 days a week playing most weeks nearly always with a card in my hand, Add to that maybe an hour on the putting green maybe once a fortnight and that's it. No lessons, hardly ever on a range or practice ground. In winter I play the Saturday comp if the course is open and the weather OK (probably 3 weeks out of 4).

I enjoy playing golf not practicing so that's what I tend to do. I have no ambition to get lower, If I get to 4 great, if I go up to 7 this season I'll live with it. I have no kids at home so have the time. If I couldn't play as much I'd probably spend more time chipping and putting for the odd hour I could spare.

Only practice I do is about 10 minutes putting on the practice green before my round.

Try to play once a week during winter and hope to maybe manage 3 games a week during the summer but the thought of proper practice bores me.

Married with kids so what golf time I have I would much rather be playing the course

I can hit about 50-80 balls then I start to fanny around, for me thats time to quit. I also cant go to a range, it needs to be the practice area off of turf.

I'd rather hit two or three balls, drop balls here and there, hit a few putts from different parts of the greens. Play a Srixon 2 V a Srixon 4 ball, just anything to keep a bit of interest and get a bit of practice, competition into my game.
