When entering it is fully explained that you will be using the sponsors putters and that a representative will help you find the one that most suits you and you can spend as much time as you want practising with it before the comp starts.

Nobody just turned up and played, there was a process and full details were disclosed.

The first post tells you that you will be using the supplied putters though, nothing is hidden, nothing should be a surprise.
so the ones who used a odyssey putter normally could still use their own,is this not an unfair advantage, if PING did one next week would the winner of that be better than the winner of this comp and thus be britain's best putter?

No, you could not use your own putter, the idea was to try out new putters from the whole Odyssey range.

Who knows, even though you may have been happy with your existing putter what-ever the brand and after trying lots of different one's on the day, you may have been surprised and liked one and got on with one better!

of course its a marketing gimmick, but it was an enjoyable day with decent prizes too. All qualifiers for the finals (sadly not me or Fish) won new putters and a golf holiday is up for grabs in the final.

No, a sales & marketing competition as you could win putters.

There is nothing gimmickry about a competition where prizes are available through a sponsor.

A think it was a healthy way to create brand awareness and allow people to try some putters they would never had tried before and with an opportunity to win one thrown in.

Is Christmas gimmickry, after all "HE" wasn't born on 25th December was he? Bet it down't stop you enjoying your prezzies does it!

All sponsored events are marketing mimics. The ping pyb challenge is marketing aswell. It is all to raise brand awareness and get column inches in the press. Nice to see a few companies trying something different that gives some extra benefit to those taking part.

i don't disagree but how can it be billed as BRITAINS BEST PUTTER would odyssey putting competition been more appropriate.

attendance isn't compulsory, if you don't fancy it, don't go. it's a sponsored comp with a glib name

Have you changed your medication this weekend? you seem a trifle UP TIGHT :D
