Hi all

as promised here's the info on the Britain's Best Putter event at The Belfry this Sunday you can get involved in for free and have the opportunity to play The Brabazion for just £70 afterwards (or PGA National at £35 and Derby at £25)

We have a special opportunity for forumers to participate in the regional finals of the Britain’s Best Putter event we are running in partnership with Odyssey.

It wont cost you a thing to get involved, should be a good laugh and there’s the potential of a spot in the UK final (The Grove) and if you go all the way the winner scoops a golf holiday to Las Colinas in Spain.

The format for the comp is below and there’s the opportunity to play a twilight round on course at a very special rate afterwards to make a day of it.

If you want to get involved email the Britain’s Best Putter team at bbp@ipcmedia.com with your name and mobile number.

Schedule
12.00 noon competition starts.
Arrive up to 1 hour before to demo and practice with the Odyssey putters that all competitors will be using during the event. Odyssey staff will be on hand to help you find the right putter for your game

Format….
2 x 18 holes strokeplay around the putting green.

The top 16 go into a seeded matchplay knockout played over 18 holes.

The overall winner is crowned Regional champion and the top 4 go through to the grand final at The Grove (October 13[SUP]th[/SUP]) and get custom fitted for an Odyssey putter

There will be refreshments available for competitors during the competition. If you want to play a round of golf afterwards then The Belfry can offer member's guest rates for Brabazon (£70), PGA National (£35) and Derby (£25). The Brabazon is available from 3.30pm, PGA 4pm and Derby 3.40pm.

If you would like to take advantage of these specially discounted rates please call 01675 470301 and quote 'Britain's Best Putter' or email Phil Dobson at phil.dobson@thebelfry.com.

Mike,

Unfortunately I am one of the reasons you are trying to fill up venues.

I can only apologise - I was successful in getting a pack for our work society and tried to run a competition alongside one of our society days we had planned in. Unfortunately both the dates we had in the calender were called off due to flooding on the two courses we had planned to play during July

As a back up I tried to get an evening putting comp going but it was all a bit rushed so only had a few people made it. We had fun and declared a winner.

I thought I had sorted it all out then when the date of the regional came up the winner and none of the other guys who turned up could make it for a variety of reasons ( mainly on summer holidays and same goes for me!!). Normally they would be straight there for the chance to play the courses mentioned.

I understand the efforts made in setting this type of thing up and feel I have let the BBP team down not having someone there to represent the society so can only apologize again.

Hope a forumer can save my blushes and fill the spots at the venues:eek:

Looking forward to meeting Matt from GM and taking part in the competition after getting a wild card entry from applying on Friday.

Also looking forward to having a good look around the Belfry. Although its right on my doorstep I've never had a peek.

The suns out nice and early, lets hope it stays dry for a great day.

Just back from the Belfry.

Made the first cut from 2 rounds of 18 along with my playing partner Nathan and we both went through into the knock-out matchplay stages in glorious sun shine and on a very testing putting green.

Luke from Leicester started with an immediate single put but I replied on the tougher 6th hole and then went 1 up on the 7th only to give it him back on the 9th to be all square on the turn.

The 2nd 9 started exactly the same with Luke again holing the 10th with a single put and again I replied on the 6th and 7th and thought I had young Luke at my mercy on the 18th only to lip it out and go all square again so off we went into sudden death.

As Luke had holed the 1st twice before I didn't hold much hope but we both putted equally for 2 holes but I was a bit heavy on the down hill 3rd and didn't get my 2nd put which allowed Luke in to be a worthy winner.

Matt from Golf Monthly and the ladies that were administrating everything were excellent hosts and the whole day was very well organised with complimentary food & drinks.

A real nice chap and character on the camera taking pictures throughout and the whole event and the whole day and experience was very enjoyable.

I got on very well with the Odyssey Putter I selected so I have put it on my birthday wish list for the 19th

Well done GM, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

sounds like you had a good one, I quite liked the putter I used yesterday too.

I used a Prototype Tour Bladed putter not too dissimilar to my G5i which is the only club I have never changed but I would happily now buy the Odyssey.

However, when on their site and putting (no pun intended) in all my info, it suggests I get the White Ice 2 Ball!

Would like to take one out on the course with me for a day first.

should this comp not be called BRITAINS BEST PUTTER WITH A PUTTER YOU HAVE NEVER USED BEFORE COMP UNLESS YOU ALREADY USE A PUTTER MADE BY THE SPONSER!!! of all the clubs in the bag is the putter not the most personal,i have used the same wand for a decade i know its nuances and had it fitted for me with different loft and bigger grip so how could i be expected to putt in a comp with a completely unknown club just thrust into my hand, and is it not unfair to those that have to use a club supplied as opposed to those that have the man. one in their bag already,or is this comp just a bit of fun!

You could just not enter if it's that much of a hardship to try a new putter!

i just cant see how it can be billed as the best putter comp if you cant use your own putter,i know it is just a gimmick to sell more putters made by the man. and i don't have a problem with that BUT it should be advertised as that, and if i wish to try other putters i would try as many as i could by all manufacturers.

You could try as many of the putters in the range for as long as you wanted on a very decent green, where else could you do that? OK you could say it was a bit of fun but that doesn't detract that it was a competition and everyone there was taking it very seriously with the opportunity to win a putter on the day.

OK it was a marketing exercise to a degree but with no direct sales made towards us, what's wrong with that on a great sunny day, a bit of banter, a chance to win a putter (keep it or sell it), all-in-all I think everyone there enjoyed themselves.

Looking at other posts of yours I think you need to take your head out of your @rse maybe then you'll smell something different to the sh!t you post.

what if you had travelled to go to this event thinking it was a PROPER competition then being told you cant use your own putter,if thats how you wish to spend your days hitting putters you have no intention buying why not just pack in playing golf and just go to the nearest AG store and hit clubs to your hearts content.
