"Call it a half" ?

The statement was "Call it halved in 3 and walk on"
That implies both players agreed that were in the hole and finished in 3 shots - gross
Surely the issue is the failure to account for the stroke given - which is not part of the 'mutual concession statement and agreement'
That this was not accounted for in the match-score after the hole is a different matter - is it not
Or am I missing something?

A half is a half and it’s up to the player to claim his shot.
He should have said “no I have a shot here”
This is what I was taught many moons ago.
I would never concede a putt when a player has a shot on me.
I am sure it was a genuine error from the player getting a shot but it is his error.
but the shot giver should not be penalised for his opponents silly mistake.
Good ,good is totally different as you only concede his next stroke so he will still get his shot.

Thanks for the discussion guys. Having had further thoughts about the incident I should clarify a bit. I think my actual words were along the lines of "call it a half and walk on?). I don't think that I actually mentioned how many shots.

I can see that in a match situation there could be a difference between my scenario where the number of potential strokes on the hole is ignored and a half agreed, and one where we each concede the other's next shot. The first scenario could I suppose potentially be used to advantage??

For me - in matchplay a halve agreed between the players is a halve - it is the responsibility of a player to know if he gets a shot on a hole in matchplay - and to be able to count. More fool him if our player forgot about his shot and could have won the hole if they'd played it out. Perhaps somewhat dubious behaviour by the player who offered the halve - but he too might not have realised about the shot.

A different matter if a halve wasn't agreed as such - but that both players conceded each other's putt and they score the same gross. Player with the shot then wins the hole.

Maybe you should have agreed that you made a mistake, gone back to the previous green, replaced your balls where they were and continued. (y)

That depends how busy the course is.
Maybe if he gets say five shots give him one on stroke 6 to replace the one he lost on the halved hole.

leftie says he called a half and walk on ,sooooo that being the case its a
HALF tough luck on chummy who should know where he gets his shots.
it was called half he accepted and they walked on played their next tee shots as well ,before it comes to light that they may have made a little bit of a cods up on the previous hole ,BUT IT WAS CALLED A HALF and that is how it should of stood .
