Buying a used car - advice needed

Thanks Smiffy, that's sounds good, any advice about which is best model to get, Petrol or Deisel etc found a couple of 2010/11 models that look reasonable.

I know people slate Renaults but I have never had a problem with them. Current one is a Clio 1.2 tce sport tourer. Enough pace, plenty of kit, 44 miles to the gallon at present and as it is a small estate, plenty of club room especially with fold flat seats as well. £5500 ex motobility on a 61 plate with full history and 10k on the clock. Perfect for my little runabout as my wife has the better car for bigger trips

The most popular model is the 1.4 Petrol. The 1.6 is a bit quicker through the gears but a little bit thirsty... the 1.5 Diesel is very economical (I was getting mid 60's out of mine on average) but it is quite noisy (Renault lump) and not particularly "nippy".
Benefit of the petrol engines is that they are a Nissan unit so very (very) reliable and have a camchain rather than a cambelt (as the Diesel engine does) so won't break on you!
Not the most sporty looking car in the world but good, honest, reliable workhorse and very easy to drive and live with on a daily basis

I think I have found one, a 60 plate N-tec diesel for £6K, slightly apprehensive about it being diesel but mpg looks great, going to take it for a test this morning.

Hope it proves to be what you are looking for...

Looked at a Note recently for 'erself... She wasn't convinced...

Just off to try an IX20...

Hopefully this is the one... Hate car buying...

mpg figures on the Note Diesel are very good. I once saw 70 on one trip but average was about 66 on my trip down to France last year.
How many miles has this one done Louse. I would imagine it is reasonably high(ish) at that price.

47000, which averages about 10K a year, I reckoned that was ok?

Yep fine. Just bear in mind that a cambelt will be needed on it at some time in the future, which is quite a costly operation.
Diesels don't always work out cheaper!
If you let me know the registration number (via PM if you want) I will give you an exact age/mileage for this to happen.
