Evening all,
Just wondering how you lot are out of the fluffy stuff...
Or in the case of the bunkers at our track concrete stuff  :D :D :D

Now to be honest its not an area of my game that im terrible at but i wouldnt say that im a natural at them either....

99% of the bunkers at our club are around the greens and the sand quality aint the best add to that our glorious Irish weather and you can pretty much get a feel for the consistency of it...

Soooooooooooo......
How do you play out of heavy wet sand and how do you address the ball..
Here's what i do so feel free to criticise.
I play the ball off my front foot but i keep 90% of my weight on the front foot too...I kind of lean into the shot like Gary Player does i think!
Now here is what im unsure of...I use a 56 deg wilsonstaff TW9 from the sand but i open it way up to the point that the face is facing the sky.....Is this wrong?

Im wondering why im using a 56 deg if im opening it up that much...
Or should i just address the ball like i would a standard pitch shot and let the clubs bounce do the work.

One other point as the bunkers around our course are relatively near the greens sometimes all im needing is a 10-12 yard bunker shot at most and thats a pretty hard distance to be aggressive on.

I would suggest getting in plenty of bunkers and get used to playing all sorts of shots from them.

Learn to love the bunker and then you will have no fear when you go in one. :D

Our bunkers are pretty poor to be honest and its russian roulette everytime you go in one. What appears to have a decent covering of sand can sometimes be bare below the ball with the club skidding on the base and others have a thick layer underneath. Not good for someone already struggling with short game frailties and so I just try and get out and see what happens from there

We only have 6 bunkers on the entire course.
2 of them are really not in play and I've never been in them, 1 other needs a poor tee shot for me to get in, 1 has been GUR for the last God-knows how long, and the other 2 have so much sand in them you could hide a Camel....
