Is the correct answer. The ball shouldn't touch the clubface but be pushed out with a wedge of sand that the bounce creates.

SILH, my wedge set up is 52/58 and I've found I only use the 58* in bunkers with little sand to really tight pins, everything else is 52* with minipulation of the loft anywhere between 52-60*... My bunker play has never been more consistent.
Last night I spent an hour or so hitting everything from fried eggs tight to the edge of the bunker to balls sitting up nicely. Just playing is the best was to learn :thup:

My 56 is my go to club in a bunker. 60 when necessary although I need to be wary of the lie as it has a lot of bounce and sole.
